I think I love you.
I've been using this little tidbit ever since I denied god. Why would any self-respecting "God" deny you the right in using free will (IE: Using your free will to *not* believe in him), when he himself "blessed" you with this gift?
If your father gave you a Ferrari, and you let it rot in the parking lot because you're decided not to use it...
Bit of a waste, eh?

If I tell you that you have a choice of whether to break the law and go to prison or to obey the law and enjoy your freedom, is that not giving you a free will to choose what you want to do with your life? If you obey the law, you will live free and be able to come and go as you please. If not, YOU are the one that is chooseing to go to prison by not wanting to be free. How is it not your choice if you have two things to choose from? Same with God. He gave you a choice. Either enjoy the freedom of Heaven and the things He has made for your happiness or you can choose to not go and follow Satan in his ways. If you will not be happy in Heaven with God, why would He want to subject you to that? That would not be very loving and kind of Him. The reason He lets you choose hell is becasue He wants you to have the choice of what you really want and would be happier with. If you choose Hell, you will not burn for all eternity as most tell you but you will die, be burned up, turned to ashes. But on the other hand, if you choose Him and HIs ways, you can have eternal life with all the wonders He has made for you. WE each one has a choice of where we would rather be, with God or with Satan. The only way you are promised eternity is with Heaven. If you go to Hell, that will burn only a short time and then burn out. Find me one place it says different and I will give you $50,000 cash. Study your bible and you will see ever better how you do have the free will to choose what you want. Just because you don't like the choices does not mean you do not have the freedom to choose.

Free will is a blessing and a curse. God has given all of us the absolute ability to makes choices in life. We have the ability to choose good or evil, right or wrong, self or others. Unfortunately, from the beginning of time, we have chosen evil quite often. Many argue that mankind is generally good. Actually, mankind is generally bad. Just look at history. Just look at small children (we don't have to teach them how to steal cookies or strike siblings).
Why did God give us free will then? Wouldn't it have been easier and nicer to create mankind as inherently good. Well, God's purpose with mankind is to have eternal fellowship with those who truly love Him. Therefore, to create us as inherently good robots, without the potential for the opposite character, evil, would not allow for true love. For only love that comes from a free choice of the will is TRUE LOVE. Voluntary choice is the key - love isn't genuine if there's no other option.

God gave us free will to decide right or wrong, but like all humans we make mistakes. We make decisions in our life that come back to haunt us sometimes. God also gave us a life time (span) to repent or change our ways. This is why there is forgiveness. We are not condemned to hell, we can be forgiven, and we can and do change.

I could not agree more! My philosophy (which I've never seen anywhere else, lol) is that God put us here to experience everything, good and bad, for His/Her benefit. Since God is a spiritual being, we are God's tools to experience things in the physical universe. So in effect, God does not interfere with us, God does not condemn us, and there is no heaven or hell! Other than that, I'm quite spiritual and I definitely believe in the Creator.

I dont fully agree with u . God gave us free-will & told us the outcomes of the decisions we make. He didnt hide the outcomes from us nor did he force us 2 make any choice. He just laid everything out there & said "do this & this will happen. Dont do this & that will happen'. That's free will. We may not like the results if we go against him but its our choice. In life there are many results of our actions that we may not like. You can eat half-pounder-triple-burgers with cheese & bacon twice a day if u choose. Aint noone will stop u from spending your money. Thats free will. But 2 years later when u are obese with heart disease & diabetes & high-cholesterol doesnt mean that u didnt had free will.

God allows us to have free will because he wants us to choose to follow him! We go to hell if we don't accept the perfect sacrifice--Jesus. Jesus died so that we could have a personal relationship with God! How awesome is that, that the God of the Universe WANTS to have a relationship with us! In a perfect world, noone would go to hell, but since sin entered the world, the world isn't perfect anymore. God is holy and cannot associate with sin, and if we don't choose to repent from our sins and be forgiven, hell is the consequence for our sins. Romans 6:23 says--"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." Death is the natural consequence for sin, only through Jesus can we go to heaven and worship God!

God gives us a free will so we can choose to grlorify Him. God does not want a bunch of spiritual robots. He wants man to follow Him because man wants to follow Him. God condemns no man. Man condemns himself to hell. The Bible says
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
and
Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Man's sin sends him to hell. God has offered a way out of going to hell and we are free to choose to accept or reject His offer.

That question doesn't make a lot of sense. If you give someone the Right to bear arms, and they abuse that right by going on a shooting spree in a shopping mall...should they NOT be punished??? Simply because someone has been given a gift doesn't mean that they cannot abuse that gift.
