I have two rings, both with personal importance to me. One is a ring my father gave me right before he died. It's a ring he wore every day since before I can remember, a simple braided band of silver. Obveously, it is very special to me and I treasure it greatly. But my boyfriend just gave me a ring (a heart of pink stones) as well. It's not an engagement ring, so I don't feel right wearing it on my left hand (that's the engagement/wedding band hand, right?) but my right ring finger is where I've been wearing my dad's ring, and it won't fit on any of my other fingers.

What do you think I should do? Both rings mean a lot to me; one, the love and memory of my father, the other, the love and devotion of my boyfriend. I would like to wear both, but I've only got one right ring finger. Should I suck it up and wear one on my left hand? Alternate and wear each every other day? Is there another option I'm not seeing?

Thanks in advance!

When my husband died, I still wanted to wear my wedding ring for the reasons you want to wear your dad's ring. I was still very young and when the time came to get 'out there' and look for someone special, I began wearing my wedding ring on a chain around my neck. This way your dad's ring will be close to your heart and will 'free up' your finger for your lovely new ring.

What about getting one of the bands resized so it will fit on your middle finger or pinky? You could wear your boyfriend's ring on your left hand as a "promise ring" or something to that effect. If both are terribly important to you, I'd find a way to wear them together.

i too also got a ring from my dad after he passed away. it was too big for me, so i got it resized to fit my finger. just because you only have 2 ring fingers doesn't mean that you can only wear two rings. perhaps you could get one of th erings resized to fit a different finger on your left hand. i wear my wedding band on my left ring finger, and my dad's ring on my right middle finger. you could also put your dad's ring on a chain and wear it as a necklace.
seeing as though they both mean something to you, i would wear them both. they both have a different meaning, and you don't want to have to chose between 2 people that mean so much to you.

as to the sarah above me, it doesn't matter what color they are, they both have a meaning, and people shouldn't be the judge on whether you wear silver or gold together.

I say get one ring re-sized so you can wear both. For a short-term solution, wear your boyfriend's ring on a chain around your neck. I think this is still in fashion? :)

You could wear your dad's ring on a chain around your neck. That way it would be closer to your heart.

Wear the ring from your father. You may have a dozen boyfriends over time, but you'll only ever have one father.

You will have similar dilemma in the future. What about your future engagement rign? Your future wedding band?

You can't wear every significant ring all the time. Alternate them!

find a really pretty chain and wear one on the chain while you wear one on your hand. that way, you can wear both and not feel uncomfortable.
