No one has the right to treat you like an idiot. As far as everyone asking why not go to a shelter. I have gotten dogs from pet stores, breeders, shelters, and saved one from a neglectful breeder. Don't be mad at anyone who buys from a breeder. Sometimes we feel more secure with traits that a particular breed has and making sure personality are breed in (such as safe with children, guard dog abilities, hypoallergenic, health, etc). Breeders also guarantee their dogs and maybe a person would wish to breed in the future. The only advice I have to offer, is if you cannot afford the $1500 outright, maybe you should wait. Don't forget vet bills for their first check up and shots, food, crates, training aides, obedience classes, etc. Dogs are a commitment. I got 2 dogs for free and they were anything but!

One of the reasons reputible breeders charge a lot for their dogs (aside from the fact that dog breeding when done correctly is just really expensive) is to weed out people who can't afford to properly care for the dog once they've purchased it. If you don't have the ability or the inclination to save up for the dog, chances are you won't have the ability or inclination to save up for it's expenses. And if you think $1500 is a lot of money, wait until your dog needs emergency surgery!
But if you really want that $1500 dog, why not save up for it? Put aside $500 a month, and in three months you'll be able to afford it. Is there any reason why you need a dog right this very second? Because that's another red flag for most breeders: people who are in a major hurry. This is a sign that they haven't perhaps thought through the real responsibilities of dog ownership. A dog shouldn't be an impulse buy and making people save up for a dog is another way to make sure the buyer stops and thinks for a bit before making the commitment.
Most of the people I know who have actually purchased pure bred show-quality dogs have saved for months to do so. It is a sign to the breeder that you are really committed and willing to go that extra mile.
Having said all that, if you're not going to conformation-show your dog, there's absolutely no reason to spend that much money on a dog. Go to your local shelter or, if there's a specific breed you're interested in, google the name of the breed along with the word "rescue" and adopt. I have a purebred dog who was rescued from a shelter. According to statistics, one in four homeless dogs is purebred.

Judging from your previous question, it sounds like you asked a breeder to let you finance payments on a $1,500 dog because you couldn't afford the payment upfront, is that correct?
If so, then you may want to reconsider your priorities. As others have said here, there are plenty of dogs in shelters who need a home & don't require that you take out a mortgage loan in order to love 'em.

Because only an idiot would pay $1500 for a dog.
There are millions of amazing dogs in shelters. It amazes me how someone would pay for one. All youre getting is an inbred overgrown rat for $1500 - where as in a shelter youre getting a dog with personallity and, well, one that goes "woof" rather than "squeek"

Because they're morons. Not being able to afford something, or unwilling to spend an outrageous amount of money on something does not an idiot make.
Don't bother with such people.

Because of snobbery...But why would anyone want a 1,500 dollar dog anyway, especially with all the specialized breed rescues and humane societies out there??

most dogs your purchase from breeders are expensive, and I doubt they have payment plans.
Do a good dog a favor, and get one from a shelter for a LOT less money.
