How young are your kids? If they're like 6 and under, they'd probably enjoy a Disney cruise. If they're a bit older, many of the cruise lines offer some great kids programs. I've always liked Royal Caribbean. The food is decent, the entertainment is good, the service is nice and the ships are clean.
There are some great family resorts, too, like Beaches. That might be a good alternative to a cruise, too.

The age of your kids play a big part in planning your cruise. To be honest, most cruise lines today are family friendly because they know that it is the biggest part of their revenue. There are exceptions of course, which include but are not limited to Celebrity, Windjammer and Crystal Cruises which cater to a particular class of cruiser.
With very young children, Disney and Carnival are the cruise lines of choice.
With 11-16 year olds, Royal Caribbean and Princess are more appropriate.
Bear in mind that Disney does not have a casino, if that's your thing, but it does offer the typical Disney experience, i.e. all the disney characters interacting with passengers and the spectacular dining room experience among other things. If your children are very young, I believe this is the way to go.
Just make sure you have plenty of film for your camera. Half the fun is watching the kids have fun!!

i would not go on one right now, there have been a ton of stoires about people dieing, or missing, getting sick or hurt. that is my two cents. but I have gone on a Carnavil and there were alot of familys on that or I hear the Disney one is real good for kids. I have not heard of any problems on the Disney one so I would go with that.
