I can't STAND the taste of already made spaghetti sauce. It is fairly simple to make.
I use:
2 tbs. of cooking oil
1 large white onion ( chopped)
1 tsp (or so) of minced garlic
2 cans of stewed tomatoes (Italian Recipe)
1 can of crushed tomatoes (Italian Recipe)
No matter what size can you use the porportions above
1 or 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning (has oregono, basil, parsely, etc)
Salt, and Pepper to taste.
First heat the oil in a med-large pot on MED. Once the oil is hot, add the onion and garlic and saute until onion is almost transparent. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook an med-low for at least an hour. All measurements are approx. (I don't usually use recipes.)
If you would like to add meat, simple brown ground beef in a different pan, and add to sauce.
Good luck...!!!!

With a can opener... duh...j/k
Start with tomato paste and a can of stewed tomatoes, then brown some haburger or sausage and add it ,bring this to a simmer. Then add garlic thyme oragano, and a dash of rosemary. Now chop up one green and one red bell pepper and add it, one onion, and then chop 1/2 pound of fresh mushrooms and add it. if you can find a sweet red wine this also gives a good flavor. If you want to try something different try adding a tblsp of your favorite bbq sauce. let sauce simmer until veggies are tender. enjoy

The most traditional-tasting sauce is cheap and comes in a can---Hunt's Traditional. Chose the one made w/ Italian sausage if you eat meat,& then add a pork bullion cube which can be found in oriental groc. stores.

Open up the jar of ragu, pour it into the pan, and heat it until it simmers. Traditional is the best.

if you're talking homemade. I use canned tomatoes, onions, garlic, italian seasoning and oregano, and green peppers. Usually it's mixed with hamberger but I have cooked up italian sausage and added it.

My husband does the cooking. He used to take hours to make it from scratch. Now he just uses Prego and adds meat. It tastes just the same. "It's in there." is really true.
