Its never too early to start talking to them about it, even if they cant talk. You want them growing up knowing that its general knowledge that you dotn talk to strangers, you dont get in the car with strangers, etc.

Best of luck.

I like Dr. Brazelton's approach. You don't mess up little kids' minds with worry about strangers. You stay with and supervise your children. Since most sexual abuse comes from family members, you are really not keeping your kids much safer by discussing this stranger business with them, but you are scaring them and making them mistrust people.

I say, stick around him and you do the worrying about the strangers. Let's face it, you cannot describe the dangers accurately enough in a way to protect your kids in all situations.

You can't tell your kids not to talk to a stranger unless you say they're good, because you'll end up with a kid who can't function socially and who thinks every adult wants to hurt them.

You are right in the age that you should start teaching right now. Unforunately the society we live in has changed so much for the worse that you can never be too safe. If he is talking, he should know now about strangers.

As early as possible. Like two. Teach them about "stranger danger".

Start as soon as you can! You can't really tell if they understand you or not if they are really young, but just keep on them. Just remind your son all the time not to go with strangers.

you should teach them about strangers whenever you feel that you need to. There is no time that is too early to teach them about strangers.
