OK so I am 28 and am just now reading the bible. I was not brought up reading it or living it. I am a true believer even though I do not know all of the bible yet. I find it strange that I do believe even with only a small amount of info but I guess it is God's way right. Well anyway i read the book of Revelations first even though it is last in the bible and I confused. It says if you are a liar or idoler or many other things you will go to Hell. Well I have done my fair share of wrong things. Will I go to heaven. I know Jesus died for our sins but if you keep doing wrong then what. Repenting but to who God or the person you hurt I am totally confused. I know the bible will answer my questions but I am confused now and it will take a while to read the BOOK.

Our conscience tells us that lying, idolatry, stealing, lust, etc., is wrong. And we have all done those things. Have you repented before a holy & just God for these sins? And have you put your faith and trust in Jesus -- like you'd trust a parachute -- because he paid the penalty for these sins? If so, you are saved.

You're still in the flesh, though, and until you get to heaven, you won't be perfect... Paul said somewhere in Romans, "I do that which I do not want to do." If you are making allowances and excuses to sin, you probably want to examine to see that you are in the faith. If your heart's desire is to please God and the sin makes you sad, just pray for God to continually help you overcome it. It says He will complete the good work He has started in you.

God is faithful. Keep reading and get His word in you. Meanwhile, know that if you are saved then God sees you as having the righteousness of Christ -- that's what His payment was all about.

Can be confusing at first but keep on studying. When you repent you first repent to God and then if you can without causing any more hurt, you go to the ones you hurt and confess to them and ask for forgiveness of them. If they give it to you, fine but if not, you have done your part and it will be on their head. Do what you find in the bible and interpret it as you read it, not as some will tell you. Go by the wisdom of Isaiah 8:20. If they speak not according to this Word, (the bible) it is because there is no light in them. Check out the site below and click on the studies and do them. You will learn more of what the bible says in a few lessons than you would if you read for a month on your own.

It also has a plan to read the bible in one year you can check out and a place you can look up anything you are interested in by just putting in a word or phrase. It will show you every place it is in the bible.

Jesus died on the cross so that we could have forgiveness from our sins. When we do sin, we need to sincerely repent to God and if the sin has affected or hurt someone else and you feel led by the Holy Spirit to do so, you repent to that person also. I just try to follow God's word; keep searching for answers in the Bible, God will show you His truth! It's all about having a relationship with Christ, though. That's why Jesus died on the cross--so that our sins would be forgiven and we could have a personal relationship with God. I hope that helped and I'll pray for you!! God bless!!

First of all, that's great that you are spending time getting familiar with the bible and all the treasure that is to be mined from it! But you need to know that there is a foundation on which you can stand with absolute assurance. That foundation is Jesus Christ. Ask yourself. Do you believe that Jesus died on a cross and rose again? Are you sorry for your sins and do you ask the Lord to forgive you? Do you accept Him as your Lord and savior? God never says anything idly. Therefore, if His word says "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved", then you can stand on that word today, tomorrow, for all of time.

We don't gain and lose salvation all day long, depending on what we do. We are held by God because of our faith in Jesus. Yes, we desire to follow His ways. No, we cannot always succeed. That is exactly what we need a savior.

You are doing the exact right thing. Study the bible. But don't worry so much about Revelation..you're right, there is alot of symbolism in it. Study the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Study Romans and Corinthians and Ephesians and Philippians. Come to know the person of Jesus Christ. And then you will know that nothing can separate you from the love of God.

Congratulations, you are on the right path. First of all God is able
to forgive your sins if you ask Jesus his son to come into your heart. Its just that simple. As far as going to heaven, God intended for us all to go the place He calls heaven because its a new place and He created it for those who love him and look for
the truth like you. Like in the days of Noah, when all those people
did not believe God destroyed the earth with water. Why? Because they did not care for Gods gift which was the very land that they were living in. God will come again and those who do not believe now will repent and cry and scream and God will not
listen because they did not believe. Pray and ask for guidance, God will send someone your way with answers and help.

The bible says that the wages of sin is death.
Everyone sins, and everyone will pay the price for it. But the price is paid here in earth by death. Everyone has to die.
If you have accepted Christ, then that is ALL you have to do. You will always sin, but your relationship with Christ will give you the desire to do better. When you die, you will have paid the price for all of your sins on earth.
Don't feel like you have to know the Bible, or read it all, or understand it all. It is not required. It is a good instruction book for life that was given to us by God.
As someone stated above, start with the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They are the easiest to understand and pertain the most to our lives.
Read about Grace... grace is the key to a wonderful relationship with God.

Stay away from the Old Testament if you're not prepared to do the necessary analysis of what those books mean. Most of it is allegorical and metaphorical. Instead, read the New Testament where Jesus preaches God's abiding love of His children.

Also, I'd recommend going to a good Scripture study group at a local university or something. You've chosen an extremely difficult book to understand on your own. However, I admire your willingness to try. Good for you!

My heart truly aches for the unbelievers who have answered your question. Jesus is rejoicing because you have accepted Him. As am I! What wonderful thing to have another Christian in the world. Welcome to the family of God!

My husband and I are reading the Bible for the first time (all the way through), though we have read different parts of it all of our lives. We purchased a Bible from Guideposts.com. Their Daily Bible is set up in chronological order with reading guides to aid in understanding. We will be done with our first read-through in a couple of months. We will be reading it for years to come.

A new Christian can find it difficult trying to do it all on their own. May I suggest that you do some church "shopping" until you find one where you feel comfortable. Being a part of the larger Christian community will help you grow in faith and bring needed fellowship with other Christians. Many churches also have Bible study classes.

Again, welcome! God bless!

Just believe in Jesus. satan will tell you lies even when you are reading the Bible. God makes it clear, that if you believe in Jesus, repent of your sin, He forgets your past sin and as far as the east to the west.
Now having said that, that is no incentive to sin. What most non believers do not understand is that while we are no long sinners- we do sin. What that means is, you do not run to sin and as time goes on, you sin less and less and are quicker to ask forgiveness.
If you have accepted Jesus and know He is the Saviour- you will not go to hell.

If you have Repented and are baptised, and live a good Christian life, then you will go to Heaven.

When you Repent all your sins, and ask JESUS into your life, then you "Put on CHRIST". Now, you will have to live a good Chritian life and to help you, you will have to read the bible to get to "know" a lot about JESUS to defend the Faith.

Remember, Be Spritual! Relying on "things", like idols or symbols, take away from you being "spritual" in nature as you are being materialistic then, so, rely on Faith to move the Mountains that you need to have moved, and alwasys keep JESUS as first in your life.

I wish you well..

Jesse
