When finding a church, I like to look at a few things. 1. What does the church offer. If you want to be involved in groups like music, drama, gender specific classes, age specific classes, classes for married and single people, etc. you should pick a church that offers these. 2. What is the church about? Read their mission statement. Find out what they are about. Is the church involved in missions? Is the church involved in helping fellow man? What is important to you and does the church align with your goals? 3. What is the pastor/preacher about? Attend a sermon. Do you like what they have to say? Do you agree with their message?

I have been Baptist for 11 years but currently attend a nondenominational church. Don't decide to attend one church or another simply because they are a specific sect. Do your homework and find a church that really fits your personality, lifestyle and beliefs.

Don't get tied up into denominations. Personally, I'm a part of the United Methodist Church, but I realize that there are some UMC churches out there (especially out West) that are not faithful in representing Scripture as it has been given, which is the most important characteristic.

You need to find a church that feels like home. A place where you can grow closer to God, and a place where Scripture is not compromised. Do your research, visit a lot of different churches and try to find one that is best suited to your preferences, but again, I cannot stress this enough, do NOT go to a place where the Word of God is not preached, and that is fundamentally flawed in its theological frame of reference.

Revealing my personal bias, I would suggest a Wesleyan tradition church: the UMC, Wesleyan, Free Methodist, Nazarene, Assemblies of God. But remember, what is most important is that the Word of God is proclaimed and lived out in the ministries of that church.

Hi there! I'm 29, and I found a great median between the two. You need to find a church that has what is called a contemporary service. These are services with modern day christian music (Michael W. Smith, Avalon, etc. are played at my church a lot), and that has a praise band. The sermon is usually written in a way that we can associate it with our every day lives. My church also has a traditional service (the more boring one), and whenever I feel like going to that one, I can. Good luck!! =) p.s.-I go to a Baptist Church

I'm not under 32, but you MUST look for a FUNDAMENTAL BIBLE BELIEVING SOUTHERN BAPTIST CHURCH. In an age of such WICKEDNESS and HATRED towards Christians and GOD, you have to find the CHURCH OF GOD, which is the Southern Baptist.

God Bless you in your search!

well good for you for leaving the legalism. unfortuantely, good churches are not easy to find.
Read Josh Harris' book "stop dating the church". he has a checklist of some things you should look for in a church. you might find it useful.
