Nothing....since you can't cut it, then take good care of it and make it as nice and clean as much as you can!

I would assume that if this is part of your belief system, then all the women who share the same belief system also have extremely long hair. I find it difficult to believe that there isn't a tradition among them reagarding how they deal with the hair.

My great-aunt was from a strict, extremely conservative Christian upbringing (but this was around the turn of the last century). They didn't believe in cutting their hair, shaving their legs or armpits, etc. She always wore her hair in a low bun at the nape of her neck covered by a hair net. Not exactly stylin'! When she got quite elderly, it was finally cut against her wishes for reasons of cleanliness.

The only suggestion I can give you is to keep it braided as much as possible. That's the best way to control knotting and matting of extremely long hair. The bonus is, if you take the braids out for a night out, it is all wavy and that looks nice. Perhaps you could try an all-over braid look. I think it would be cooler than leaving it down, less heavy than any kind of bun or pony tail would be (which can cause strain on your back and neck, leading to problems down the road), and it could be more fashionable looking as well. It would take some time to do, of course, but I have to think brushing it is extrememely time consuming, too, so that part of the process should be no big deal.

I also have to agree with other responders that if your beliefs include helping those less fortunate, it might work to consider donating to Locks of Love. Just to clarify a common misconception, Locks of Love does indeed make wigs. However, the wigs are generally made for children suffering from Alopecia Areata, a harmless condition which causes all of one's hair to fall out for no apparent reason, generally not for people on chemotherapy for cancer. The reason for this is twofold: 1) human hair wigs are fairly difficult to care for and people weakened by chemo don't need something difficult to care for and 2) they are very expensive and, since hair lost through chemo usually grows back once the chemo is finished, it isn't worth the cost.

Anyway, children affected by alopecia are stigmatized by other children, of course. The wigs are custom made with a "suction" principle which causes the wig to "stick" perfectly to the scalp and can be treated just like regular hair. Go to the web site to see what a tremendous change this makes in the self-esteem of these children (see site URL below). Maybe showing this to those who would need to "approve" the hair cut would help you to make a case for cutting off a foot or two to make it more manageable!

Ummmmmmm that is WAY too long what the heck do you believe in (No offense) If you somehow curled it and then put it into like a pony-tail and piled some on your head you could get away with knee length. Maybe, normally I would say cut it and donate it to locks of love. That could make alot of wigs!

Sounds like you're Pentecostal.

Time to find a new religion, one that isn't so restrictive. I don't think God would mind if you cut your hair. I've never heard of anyone going to hell for cutting his/her hair. That's just ridiculous.

Anyway, if it's becoming a nuisance, it's time to take some of that length off. As far as I know, God never said it's OK to constantly sit or trip over your hair.

Well, put your hair to good use, and donate it to "Locks for Love". If you can't do that, I'd suggest doing something to get it off of your neck. Tie it into a bun, but the best thing you can do is cut it.

you could braid it, or try looking like princess Leah. that's a hard one really. not much you can do if it's a religious belief, unless you ask if you could cut it back and donate the rest to "Locks of Love" At least that way you are helping someone.

Girl, cut that thing. If you don't you'll start tripping on your hair and people will start making fun of you and your split ends and then they'll start calling you Chewbaca or Cousin It

If it is due to religious beliefs,,,,,doesn't it say it is better to give than to recieve?

Ask if you can have your hair partially cut and the hair donated to the womens groups who make wigs for cancer patients who've lost their hair due to chemotherapy. They accept hair longer than 12" in length- you could help many many women if your hair is as you have described it

wow thats a tall order to work with. it must be sweaty during the heat of summer. anyways, i would put it in two braids, one on the each side of your head, then pull them back into a pony tail. that way its fashionable, cool, and off your neck.
