I don't think women of ANY race look good with a weave that is too long. Actually, I hate weaves. I think they are disgusting, especially if they are made from human hair. However, my daughter has recently started wearing weaves because her hair has never really grown and is very short. She wants long hair and has opted for the weave. I don't know about acting like it's real, I think that would be on an individual basis, but I would have to say maybe they (my daughter) want it to be real or maybe they (my daughter) feel ashamed that their hair won't grow and don't want anyone to know. Basically are too embarrassed to admit it's not.

Anything fake for me is unattractive. However, some weaves are done so well it's hard to tell if they are fake or not. When is the afro going to come back in style for black women? This is a natural and sexy hairstyle that's time is due back en mass. (except if your afro is ultra grande and the head room in your car is extra low) And how do black women get there hair to look like white women now, like Beyonce? And why am I asking all these questions? Do you remember the 80's hairstyles for black women? I do, I have no idea what to call them with hair terraced in all directions like awnings on a confusing building. The only thing worse was white girls getting the same thing done to their hair, (like white girls with corn braids today). The 80's had the be one of the worst decades of style in the history of mankind and I had to grow up in it. The 90's put an end to the misery and women started to look like women again. As for women acting like their weaves are real, well they didn't get them to tell everybody how fake they are.

I think it is okay because you see people out here paying to get breast implants and butt implants so why can't a black women go buy here some hair most people I know don't claim it as there real hair because it has became so common these days for women to get weaves so why would try to pass off as your real and if you do try to deny that you wear weaves someone will notice you wear a weave because there very easy to spot

Many white women who are actresses and singers wear it as well. The salon I used to go to does hair shows in the states and the owner of the salon does hair extensions and weaves for several famous women-just look in the magazines and you should be able to see who wears one and who doesn't. Look at soaps like y & r and passions-do you really think their hair grew that fast overnight? Give me a break! Comeon girl don't be a hater-if you don't like it -that's fine but don't knock the sisters for improving themselves in this world where very little is real -everyone has fake boobs, fake nails etc I must be the last person out there who doesn't do anything fake but that doesn't mean I'm going to hate those who do! To each his own! For the record I have put hair extensions in my daughters hair and see nothing wrong with it-it's only fashion!

Some women want long hair you know. Every since the weaves started people always asking, "is that your hair." Now I have to say over and over this is my real hair, this is not a weave.

It doesn't bother me at all because weaves actually enhanced the hair style. ANd it the weave is done right it can look really natural. But black women aren't the only ones who wear weave so do whites and latinos!

Just another attempt to deceive and beguile man. If she wanted long hair, why cut it? Deception has always been a trait of women, the world over. There are no HONEST women anywhere.
Make-up hides your face.
Nail polish hides fake nails.
Natural hair is hidden by different colors.
Women lie about their weight, age, and many other things.
Wear clothes too tight, to show off fake breasts,
How about, fake lips, butts and more.
Yet they are looking for an Honest man!!
A weave is just a black woman's way of wanting to be white. She's already destroyed the natural curls, given her at birth, tired of white women waving their hair around, which can't be done with an Afro, eh. If you want to be real, then BE real. enhance your real natural beauty, and watch the men fall at your feet.
A Real Man wants a Real Woman >> Are there any out there!!!

Well my take on weaves is this. I have long thick healthy hair that I can cut in a bob in March and grow it all back before June. Everybody is not as blessed with good hair. I think if you want to wear a weave that is your business. And if your weave game is tight...git it gurl.

Well I don't wear weaves but when I don't feel like doing anything to my hair I will slap my sassy wig on and call it a day.
I say if you can grow, it doesn't hurt to fake it a lil bit. That's a way for women to change there look with out changing there hair, its bad enough we relaxer our hair so whats wrong with a lil weave.
All in All its done to look better and to build self esteem and sex appeal.

the point of a weave is to have longer hair that's why it's sometimes called an extension?
What is up with people dyeing their hair and acting as if that's their real color :-)
