whatever you do get him he is going to be more interested in the box it comes in..
try getting him an interactive age appropriate toy like from leapfrog or playskool. something that helps him learn is always nice.

Someone gave my son a Playskool Wheel Pals car set. It's a track for 3 little cars that can race designed for the 1 to 3 age range. He really enjoys it to this day, and we have given it as a gift to 2 other little boys turning one. One mom later told me that it was her son's favorite gift from the party.

My 1 year old niece liked those plastic books I gave her. She can "read" them when taking a bath.

Bathtub toys. There are some little ones that you pull a string on them and they swim in the tub. I think you can get them at WalMart.

is he picky? teething rings, babys bible,oh! 1 thing i loved were bunny books,they were about a bunny named bunny,let's see there wus abc bunny,uumm, i don't remember but i'v still got them. if you were here i would give them to you
