Does this mean I should look into getting a prescription for antidepressants?

ok, I am pretty depressed at work, but I can't quit for another year. Job is just too boring and not what I was hoping for, most of my peers got much better jobs after college. Like I said, I'm gonna have to be here for at least another year. But even before then, for the past few years, save for some periods of time, I have been, shall we say, mildly depressed. Either because I wasn't getting things I wanted, or because of my social life...dunno maybe I am aiming too high. I'm thinking I don't have the right outlook in life, that is a positive attitude. But when I have the first coffee, or an expresso during the after-lunch blues, everything seems so much better and I am actually eager to work.

Obviously it's the caffeine in the coffee that stimulates your brain and temporarily gets you over the afternoon slump. But I think your main problem has nothing to do with stimulants or antidepressants. Oh, I'm not saying they wouldn't help, but you need to get to the root of your problem, which seems to be utter dissatisfaction with your life in general and what you're doing. Why are you stuck in a situation that you hate? Isn't there someplace where you would feel more productive and appreciated? Get out of the rut you're in, and you may find that not only will you not need artificial stimulants, but you will be happier and motivated to pursue the life that you really want.

No. It means you are tired, and the caffeine perked you up (ok, bad pun, sorry).

It does the same for me.

But are you depressed all the time, or have you been depressed for a week or two non-stop? Then, you may want to go see your doctor. My hubby is on an antidepressant, and it helps him.

Here's hoping your day improves and that you feel better. I raise my venti, extra hot, 2% mocha with whipped cream to you. Cheers! ;-)

Coffee can be a comforting thing. And who among us doesn't like comfort. If you have more than one depressive symptom, you might consider talking to your doctor, but don't automatically think that anti-depressants are the answer. Could just be a bad day. Everyone has them, even me, an antidepressant taker.

I take my espresso any time within the day. I'm no longer a large fan of black espresso or coffee. I like my espresso at starbucks:) I pick another caramel frappuchino. Somtimes, at night time I get milk with espresso in it and sugar. I simply warmness it within the microwave for one million:00 minute and it is well to move. Coffee may also be taken any time of the day but when it is a ninety levels summer time day love it is now in Miami then I'll take a bloodless caramel frappuchino! :-)

coffee contains caffeine, a drug that is a stimulant, making you more alert, and hence change your views on the day, making it better. I wouldnt reccommend antidepressants, they should be used only in extreme situations. Take it easy and think about other situations to make your day better.
