Most of the Christians I've come across are very judgmental and bigoted. Are they supposed to be that way? I'd like answers from real Christians please. Blessed be.

When you say they are judgmental and bigoted...do you mean they live by the bible? Alot of people use those words and what they actually mean are that Christians go by what God has said in His word....and do not condone sin. Sin is whatever God says it is.

Now, if a person runs around and enjoys telling everyone they are going to hell...then yes...I'd say that's rather judgmental. A Christian is supposed to be kind, compassionate, loving, merciful, forgiving. That doesn't mean we will condone what the bible calls sin. And that means in ourselves, first of all. As the bible tells me, look to the beam in my own eye first, before pointing out the splinter in another's eye.

Wytchgypsy: The term Christian covers a multitude of, dare I say it, sins. There are now so many different branches that it is hard to keep count. I am a Catholic, and therefore Christian. I try my best to do what I consider 'right' and obey the Commandments. I am not a churchgoer but I am very religious in a naturalistic way. I love the great outdoors and that is one of the things that keeps my faith in God. I try not to harm other people or animals, I try to help those in need and I try to speak well of even the most evil so-and-so's. I try to be good and although not always successful, I at least try. I do not push my beliefs on anyone and believe that non-believers have a right to that disbelief. Live and let live is my motto........ God bless.....

I've noticed the same thing. I've had quite a hard time finding a church that'll except me for who I am. I don't fit in any particular "category" because I have many different spiritual beliefs.

So I don't go to church presently, but I believe God loves me for me.

I do know that if a person loves God and shows it through their actions by being kind, helping other's, is a good listener, is encouraging and supportive to those in need and contributes positively to society, by just "being that way" and not preaching about it- that's what I think a Christian way of life should be like.

Some who "go to church" want other's to "KNOW THAT" and then whenever they do something "good" they want other's to know that too. I say, "Just do it" and not say anything. God knows when we're kind to other's. He's the one who counts.

If other's like what you're doing, what you stand for and who you are- that in itself is a very positive statement and friends may ask how they can be more like you, or may want to be more like the person you've become, because you're a good person.

So in answer to your question, You don't have to "act"
- Just be real and the good will follow.

No one is supposed to be judgemental and biggoted. Anyone who does is responsible for their own stuff.....no one likes a judgemental person. ^_^ There needs to be more closeness between religious groups; different religions have wars over who's right and all that stuff. Christians aren't judgemental, individuals are judgemental. People have different backgrounds and life experiences and upraisings that can cause this..........from the end of your question ("blessed Be") I know you're Wiccan (or of another pagan section).....some Christians aren't always well-understanding of Paganism ..... so they can appear like they don't like them, but it's more along the lines of not being much exposed to it. All someone can do is try to show their true self and personality above trying to teach the other person their ways, that usually works; if not, not everyone has to like everyone, I guess, although it would be great =)

Most people Christian or non Christian are bigoted and judgmental. Don't lay that one on Christians alone. Be fair.

The most judgmental people seem to be non-believers against believers.
We are to be the light of the world. Kind, helpful. Though most of us miss the mark a lot of times, at least we try.
If secular people threw stones, we would all be dead, yet non believers can mess up in the most horrible way and the world says- "Oh well."

Unfortunately lots of Christians do act that way, but they aren't supposed to. Jesus said the greatest commandments are to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love others as yourself. That's what Christians are supposed to be doing. But keep in mind we're all human too, and people make mistakes.

Many blessings.

I'm not a Christian but I asked my friend who's a Christian to answer this and he told me the following:

Christians, like people of any other religion, should have a lot of faith in their religion and should be proud of who they are. But, Christianity preaches tolerance. Therefore, being judgmental is not a very good idea. Preaching one's religion is another thing. But as a Christian, it is necessary to be open minded. Christianity is a majestic faith; likewise, so are other religions. So they're not meant to be like that.

Codes of conduct are standard at Christian colleges, and Biola’s is one of the toughest. The university’s 2,100 undergraduates can’t drink, smoke, gamble, or have premarital sex. Doors must be wide open during the brief, and heavily supervised, hours when men and women may visit each other’s dorms. “Social dancing,” everything from the waltz to the salsa, is forbidden on campus. Students can’t watch racy movies or TV shows, and parental-control software keeps internet pornography off limits to curious eyes.
