I find it funny how men are blamed for objectifing women, in music videos and movies. Very funny, but do people ever look at the girl herself, she has a choice right, and she chose to be objectified, she was not kidnapped or held hostage, so why do men take the blame for this?

The only way a man can objectify a woman is if the woman allows it. Men leering at you does not make you an object.

Men don't objectify women.

We objectify T and A.

Edit: This is less true when it comes to prostitution and slavery though, where people are essentially bought. You buy the woman (an object) but you do it for the services. Rap videos and the like, you're not buying the woman, you're watching the video for the T and A. The producers OF the videos buy the services of the woman, but only in the same way that movie producers buy the services of actors male and female for non-sexual roles.

No more than women objectify men. It has always annoyed me that men in movies and especially TV commercials (just watch a few) are always made out to be stupid, lazy and tactless. Of course, some men are. But most are not. When you objectify someone, it means you don't believe (or don't care) that there is any more to him or her than what you can see. Society has always flashed images at us claiming that women are beautiful and men are jerks. Well, not only is that not true of all women or all men, but beautiful women are more than just beautiful, and men who are jerks are more than just that.

As for women having a choice as to whether or not they are seen in a certain music video shaking and jiggling, absolutely they do. But that's a form of freedom too. A woman who is confident enough to show herself is claiming a certain power over the viewer.

And, as a bisexual woman myself, I'll admit that it is NOT just men who do the watching.

Women are objectified for their bodies. Men are objectified for their social status and wealth. PS I support neither.

Absolutely - a lot of women do put themselves in that position. However, I think that, if you dig deeper, what the woman really desires is to be loved, and, by allowing herself to be objectified, she is desperately seeking that love. Think about it... who gets more attention, the "good girls" or the "bad girls?" Too often, the bad girls get the attention of the boys while the good girls simply slip under the radar or are criticized for being goodie-goodies.

If the problem was as simple as you make it sound, it may have been resolved already...

I am a women and I agree with you to a certain extent. Women could not vote, smoke cigarettes, and most did not work or hold any positions in government. Some might say men are still controlling thing. I do agree with you when you said no ones holding a gun to their head or forcing them to do this. It is truly a choice made by the women to do this. I say live and let live and don't judge anyone who you don't know. Everyone's walk is diffetrent.

As a woman, I believe that SOME men in their MINDS objectify women and live on the idea of disrepect, BUT IT IS THE WOMAN'S CHOICE TO LET THOUGHTS TURN TO ACTIONS.
I see women each day let themselves be misused and I blame them. Why? She LETS him. So it's not rape, it's all on her.
Seems harsh, but women have rights these days! And for us to say that men still mistreat us is complete BULL!

P.S - Nice Disclaimer

You're right the woman does have a choice. But, it's so much more than that. It how a WOMAN IS MADE TO FEEL ABOUT HERSELF. (Which a whole book could be written on ~~and probably has. ) This perception of self (if not nurtured properly) can lead a woman into a whole mess of wrong life choices.

You forgot "May cause drowsiness" in the warnings.

Yeah, woman are used as sex objects in those videos. Who cares. It is art. Well sometimes anyway. Anybody who does not think there is sexual tension between the genders, and I am not by any means accusing you of that, is an idiot.

Heh, got a good picture to send on the subject.

yep. spamandham is right.

the problem for most is that a few not minding the objectification for money actually damage all the others who are sweating it in many situations.

For one woman having the choice, there are many who never will. I find that sad and terrifying. Don't you?
