You are wrong when you say the "British accent" - because the English language has like hundreds of accents within the British Isles. If I can recall myself, there is the Southern English accent, the London accent, the Standard English accent (Oxford & Cambridge), Scouse accent (Liverpool), Manchester accent (the gecko in the GEICO ad we see in American TV), Cockney accent (Leeds) etc. etc.
Having said that, I believe the Standard English accent is the easiest to understand, because it encompasses the basic elements of grammar, syllables, phonetics that we acquire when we learn English in school.
The other English accents around the world such as in Australia or USA are slight or significant variations on these elements, which can make it difficult for someone who is learning English, to grasp easily.
As an Indian myself, I found it very easy to watch and learn things from the British channels on TV, whereas I found it extremely hard to follow the American channels & even movies didn't help in any way. It is only when I went online and started participating in the forums and messageboards, I got in touch with Americans and only then i could follow the American accent easily.
Thus, from my view I would say the standard English accent spoken around Oxford and Cambridge, which is what you hear on British broadcasts, is the best accent - simply because it is the easiest to grasp.

I didn't know that the majority did think the British accent was best. And which British accent would that be, Cockney, Oxford, Scottish? They have as many different accents as we do.
I think the 'best' accent is the standard midwest version of English. The way news anchors speak. I think the worst accent is the way they speak in Boston, or in New York. They make even the sweetest little old lady sound like a female wrestler.

The fact is the most appropriate dialect of the English language is in the upper midwest of the United States. If you listen to national news speakers you never hear a southern or eastern accent, though many were raised with them. They are often sent to schools up there that specialize in accent desensitization and conversion. Accents are great but this is something that may more directly answer your question.

Every child is beautiful to her mother.Every mother is affectionate to the child.Similarly the accent of the language of mother tongue is sweet to every individual.Anything out of your way may seem to be different. That is the reason why you feel that some other accent is lovely because it is different and new to your Ear.Similarly others may like accent of Nigerians.

It's somewhat indistinct to mention "British" accessory as it's to mention "American" accessory.... Britain is made from 4 international locations, all of that have their possess discussion. Similarly, America has many states that experience their possess discussion.... To be reasonable, I like to listen to an Irish accessory on a woman that is entirely specific to a Scottish accessory, a Welsh accessory or an English accessory. I may not even begin on nearby accents inside those international locations! :)

I don't think it's the best, but I do think it's the prettiest. It's wrong to consider accents in terms of right or wrong. That is not a valid category for language variants.
