Do they have some secret ingrediant? Is the water cleaner and the fields unpolluted?

In my judgement, although mass-market products from the 3 remaining national Canadian brewing companies (one of them, Molson, now American owned), notably limited to Molson Canadian and Golden, Labatt 50 and Sleeman honey lager, have more taste than American mass market products, there is hardly a Canadian micro brewer, Vancouver Brewery (of Victoria) excepted perhaps, with products half as good as any typical micro-brewer of the American northwest (and northern California), New England, the Colorado and Arizona rockies area
and some of the American midwest. Each month or so we load up family adults in the van and trek to Vermont or New Hampshire and stock up on wonderful brews by Harpoon, Long Trail, Catamount, Otter Creek, Redhook, Portland and others (fortunately we cross the border at a small rural station where Canadian customs knows us and lets us have a few cases over the limit).
In fact, just last week I communicated by phone and email with
Labatt, Anheuser-Busch and Redhook demanding an answer as to why A-B's contract with Labatt - its producer for Canada - might not license for Redhook - partially owned by A-B - as well.

A question for your question - why do you think Canadians make the best beer? There are great beers brewed all over the world...I doubt many Germans would agree that Canada makes the best beer. If you really like beer, you may want to try a variety of brews from all over...there is a lot more out there than Labatts, Molson, Bud and Miller. Try some Anchor Steam or some Saranac Pale Ale or some Franziskaner Dunkle Weiss or some Stella Artois or some other......good beer.

Its sure is a great world to live in and try the beers of various countries. However, i am not really a fond of Canadian Beers, though I like Stella Artois or Blue Labatt.
My favorite remains Corona Extra.

It just happens to be the taste they prefer that you must like. Personally I prefer stouts from Ireland and Scotland, but that's my personal taste. The water used in brewing does have a major effect on beer. If the same recipe is used in the exact same equipment in two different cities, the taste will be different. Also different kinds of hopps and different barley and also the varying degress of malting make a difference in the taste. Try to find a local micro-brewery who can give you a tour, so you can see how different things make different tastes in beers.

I love canadian beer! but this is a generalized statement, not everyone will agree. I love Labatts Blue because its stronger than the crap we get in America, I might have to special order it because there isnt any in Texas.
