I have very long hair . It comes to my hips. It's very very thick and course and a little wavy. I have been debating with myself about cutting it. It is so miserably hot right now. My hair grows pretty fast and doesn't stop at a certain length. Honest it would grow past my feet if I let it. I know in the past I've cut it in the summer and I was always sorry afterwards. Long hair is very easy to care for and so versatile to style. What should I do cut it or not ?

I have the same problem. I adore my long hair but it is difficult to care for. I would cut it so it is still long enough to do things with, but not as long as it was. Hope I helped!

cut it too about two or three inches past shoulder length. that length is perfect for anything. and since your hair is a little bit wavy, i suggest a few layers so it will naturally wave up a little more. but you can always straighten it or blow dry it out. you should also get it thinned, it would take off a lot of the weight and heat.

have you thought about donating some to Locks Of Love or something? there are organizations that cut peoples hair for wigs for children with cancer. i think that would be a great cause.

Maybe cut off just a few inches. That way you won't regret doing it because it'll grow back fast. And if it stays hot you can take off a few inches again. But hot weather won't last (unless you live where your username suggests) and you'll be glad you kept your hair reasonably long. On the other hand, if you cut off over 9 or 10 inches of hair, you can donate it to that organization that makes hair pieces for cancer victims. Locks of Love or whatever it's called? So you have options here.

since its hot then you should cut it. you said it grows fast so it will come back soon. if you cant decide how much to cut have the stylist cut a few inches and see how you like it. if you still want it shorter have them cut more. you might feel bad afterwards cuz u luv ur hair long but itll come back! and why not experiment with a new look? you can do even more than cut it!

I have similar hair to what you described. I made a change and cut it very short. When it was long it was hard for me to keepup. Split ends, all the washing & drying, curling and straightening out the deep waves. Today I rock a sassy cut that gets me compliments daily. My natural dark and light brown locks short and wavy. free. I find that it is much eaiser to deal with. No heat, I just wash it, run my fingers through it and go. Its just hair it will grow back. Dont let it hold you back. Free yourself.

I think you should do what ever u are comfortable with. If you like your long hair then dont cut it. But the weather is defintly an issue. I personaly wont let my hair grow pased the middle of my back. Since it seems like your hair grows fast then u could cut it and then if u dont like it then it will go back.

You don't have to cut it short like shoulder length, I would go down to the middle of your back. That's still pretty long, longer then most girls' hair, and you can still do a lot with it. I don't think you'll regret it (then again, how would I know?), but it wouldn't be that much of a change.

Hi there!!!
I think that it will be hard to let go of that long hair but it might be a good change for you.Just look at Toni Braxton and Hallie Berrie they look good with it short or long. However get a pro to cut it for you and maybe look up some styles before cutting it to get an idea of what you will look like.
remember to have fun bye!!!!

I say try it out! Hair grows back. I cut my hair to right below my shoulders and I LOVE how easy it is to care for! Plus you can donate it to Locks of Love.

Probably what most people here are saying: Mid-Back would be a very nice cut. So then your hair can grow and it's short enough.

Tough decision. my hair was all the way down my back, after the birth of my daughter my lovely long hair started to fall out & get ratty. so I had no choice, I had it cut all the way up to my ears.
I sorta like my new hair & it's lovely in this hot weather, but i wouldn't of had it cut if i didn't have to.
