As long as you're sores are weeping (leaking) I wouldn't touch anyone. Poison ivy is the pits. Try Aveeno baths to help the itch. They have a few new products on the market that is supposed to help dry it out. Ask your pharmacist. Or do a yahoo search.

According to everything I've read it is not contagious. Go to a local drug store and get a product called Zanfell it is very expensive, $40.00 for a small tube but it is the most effective product I have ever used. Use this and it will clear up within a few days, otherwise you could be in for a few weeks of paranoid girlfriend syndrome.
Good luck
As a side note after reading other peoples reply's I will tell you that no one can say how long it will take to go away without treatment because everyone reacts differently, some might take a week others months. It is also possible to get it internally if you inhale the fumes from a fire. This causes a blood infection (I know someone who this happened too) and they had re-occurances for a year.

YES!!! It's highly contagious. She's smart for not allowing contact while you have it. You need to take Benadryl to help with the inflamation & itching. Also, take a bath in baking soda water. Pour a whole box of Arm & Hammer into the tub, swirl a bit to dissolve & pour it on your skin. That should help with the itching. DO NOT SCRATCH!! The oils will get trapped under your finger nails & on the pads to be transferred to your nether regions or other people. Caladryl Clear or Calamine lotions are a temporary fix to the itching. Hydrocortisone works too & is another temp fix.
Wash the clothes in HOT water, alone, or you'll transfer the oils to the other clothing. Use Tide or Cheer laundry soap. Better yet, throw the clothes away in a seperate Hefty or Glad trashbag. It should start going away in about a week or less. If not, head to the doctor's office.

Yes, very contagious. You're not safe until it has dried to scabs or gone completely.

YES, YES, YES! If you have it and your girlfriend is also allergic, then you can give it to her. If you can leave it alone (don't pop the fluid sacs) I would say about a week at the most.

No, it is the oil in the plant that causes the rash. So, if you have showered, the oil is off your skin, she can not be infected by you.
