both good cars golf being smaller and lighter so more to the gallon and a bit quicker the passett is roomer and a little more comfortable golf if you have a small family the other if bigger.look at skoda offerings same under neath a lot more car for the money owned by vw and recent surveys have proved more reliable

I have a golf diesel and previously owned a passat diesel.

Passat- roomy, family orientated taxi, commercial traveller, middle aged image.

Golf- younger image, more stylish, easier to park.

In other words, a passat is what your dad would drive!

Difference that sprang to mind is golf suspension will be much harder than passat. Good for boy racers, bad for hearing and feeling every bump in the road.

Its because we have stricter emissions regulations than Europe. You either get clean emissions or fuel economy, not both. One of the many reasons why I hate tree huggers.
