I don't think you are confused. I think everyone else is and they have in fact fallen for the first kook in a black dress waving a book around. You are using your mind and thinking critically. This is what separates intelligent people from "Sheeple".
No, I'm not going to tell you what to believe. I can tell that you have a fine mind and will come to an intelligent decision on your own. I can tell you that there is no "proven" answer. There are a lot of people that would like to "prove" with faulty logic that they "Know the way".
Follow your own judgement, discover your own proof. I would be interested in learning what you do finally choose to believe.

Yes, it can be confusing if you do not understand the basic of Christ.
He is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus said it- and He is not a liar.
You have to understand that Christians are just people. We make mistakes, mess things up, lose our temper and get things wrong.
When someone tells you that hell awaits, that is the basic truth. I always wondered why if God was so good, why do judgmental? But, He gives us a choice in this life. We can choose to go our way without Him, but the consequences are eternity without Him.
It really is simple, much more so than Church leaders have made it. You don't have to be a Bible thumping- hell fire and brimstone type.
Try and think of Jesus as the best- kindest- most compassionate- awesome- inspiring person ever- then wouldn't it make sense to follow His way?
All He wants is for you to see Him as he really is. Your Creator who loved you so much He gave His life to be with you.
Hope this helps.

First of all when people say that if you don't stop sinning you are going to go to hell they are really giving you a poor worded statement. The one thing you have to know is that we all sin, it's in our nature to sin against God. That nature was given to us by Adam way back in the beginning of time. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 3:23 that "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." The only difference between the Heaven-bound sinner and the Hell-bound sinner the forgiveness through acceptance of the Grace of God.
See God loves all of us. Every one of us. It's up to us to love Him back. We are told in Proverbs 8:17 that "I love all those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me," See God loves all of us, all you have to do is Love him back.
Some people use these so called scare tactics to express the importance of the soul of a Hell-bound sinner. They ask the question "Are you ready for Him?" and that is not to come across as threatening but as a cry of concern for you. See they see something in a person that is not right with God. And the initial reaction of someone that is asked that question that isn't where they should be with God is to get offended. If someone came to me today and asked me if I am ready for him I will simply tell them "Yes, I am, and I can't wait until his return." See I would say that because I know Him. He lives within me by the way of his Holy Spirit.
Step out of the box for a second and look at everything that makes you not want to believe that there is a loving, merciful Grace giving God out there just longing for the day that you tell him you love Him too. Then look at the reasons why you feel you should believe in that wonderful God. God is good. Your live will be so much better with him than without him.
The main difference between a Hell-bound sinner and a Heaven-bound sinner is that a Heaven-bound sinner has been forgiven of their sins. And they were granted this forgiveness because they chose to believe and repent of their sins and to live a life that imitates Christ.
Read the bible. If it confuses you, read it again. Pray that God will reveal himself to you through his word. Ask him to reveal his truths to you through his word. If you do that and truly believe that he will answer your prayer then it will be so. But you have to believe without a shadow of a doubt that hr is God. The one and only, he will show you the way. All you have to do is ask for directions.
And remember:
"This book (The Bible) will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from this book." Dwight L. Moody

Christianity in itself, is confusing. I tried being a Christian, but it didn't work out. You know why? Because I think too much. You sound like a thinker, too. Go with your heart, that's the best thing you can do. Remember, Christianity isn't the only God-worshiping religion out there. There are many paths to choose from, and I'm sure there is one for you. Blessed be.

A loving God lets us choose whether or not we want to spend eternity with Him. He wouldn't be loving if he forced us into his presence forever. Hell is the continuation of a life that wishes to be separated from God. And you don't have to 'stop sinning' to go to Heaven. Because I don't know anyone, Christian or otherwise, who can up and never sin again. We were born sinful and we die sinful, the only way to stand before a God that is not only loving but also just and righteous is to accept his Son, who died for our sins on the cross. If you want to be with God, then believe in His Son and spend eternity with Him. if you don't want to be with God, he isn't going to force you to be with him.
God bless.

The only way that you will go to hell is if you reject Jesus Christ.
Everyone who accepts Jesus will be a part of his family and will spend eternity with Him in heaven. Those who do not accept, will not spend eternity with Him.
It's plain and simple. No scare tactics involved.
Romans 10:9 states that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised HIm from the dead, you will be saved.

I think the bible is about faith. You have to have faith ,even if you can't see or hear it.Thats hard for alot of people, especially those who have to see to believe.I believe in God and in Jesus. But I have trouble believing alot of stuff inthe bible.People say you are supposed to fear God,but again they say he is all forgiving.Which one is it?Is God this force to be scared of or is he loving and kind? And if you sin,all you have to do is ask for forgiveness and he's supposed to forgive anything you do.What about murder?Thats in the 10 commandments, does he forgive that too?And if thats true, then hell should be empty b/c everyone could just pray for forgiveness before they died.So why be scared of hell? It's confusing and making my brain hurt . :-).

I would recommend reading one of the books in the Bible. Your questions will be answered for you quite easily. If you don't have a Bible, you can read it at http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John;&version=31
This starts you at the easiest to understand book.. John. When you finish John chapter 1, hit the arrow key at the top of the text and it will take you to chapter 2.
Let me know if you need help.
