I am 24 yrs old and have had chronic pain for the last 5 years in the lower right side of my ribcage. I have gone to so many doctors, and spent so much money. I have been told that I may have costochondritus but I am still skeptical that it may be something worse. Everytime I go and get x-rays they tell me I have inflammtion in my ribcage and strained muscles in the area, BUT NO ANSWERS. Until I can get more answers I am trying to deal with my pain. Can anyone please make legit suggestions on how to ease my pain? Or maybe someone can shed some light on what this may be? I have tried painkillers, OTC pain medicines, green tea, olive oil, heat packs, ice packs, biofreeze, various supplements, praying, nothing is working and I feel sick all of the time and this is ruining my life! Not only that but now I have new symptoms of tingling in my back and its scaring the crap out of me. Noone will listen and every doctor I go to thinks I am crazy and too young to be sick. Please help.

I, too, have been living with a mysterious disease that none of the doctors have seemed to be able to help me with. Mine includes chronic pain and itching as well as a few other symptoms. I don't know how many different doctors I went to see and how many different things they tried. I always got pat answers.

I decided to forgo doctors because no one seemed to have an answer or really believed me and I couldn't afford the bills to not recieve answers.

No pain meds are able to help me and no homeopathic remedy either. I just live with the pain. I tell my self it could be worse and suck it up and keep on living. I try to look at my days as good days and worse days. Not, does it hurt, but, how much does it hurt.

I'm very fortunate that my husband is understanding and helps me by believing me and doing all that he can when it gets to be too much for me, if only just holding me when I cry.

Not much help to you, I'm sure, but at least you know there are others out there like you.

Perhaps you can get your doctor to reccomend a teaching hospital or one that specialized in mystery diseases.

Hang tough.

I have a similar problem as you do. I am 16, and I have had chronic back pain for almost a year now. At first they said it was something to do with my discs, but after seeing a specialist, he said it wasn't that. I think they also brushed it off because I am too young to be complaining of a bad back. The gave me ibuprofen 800 to take, and it sometimes works. My parent's friend who is a physical therapist said it may have had to do with how I have to sit in school. (desks aren't easy on posture unless you have extreme self control.)
Anyway, the thing that helps the most for me is sleeping or lying down/relaxing, but obviously that isn't convienient.
A lot of heavier pain killers work too, but there is the probability that you will be addicted, and they can really mess up your life.
If you are able to do physical activity, maybe you could try light yoga?
I hope you find something that helps.

I am a religious individual and if a Doctor can't diagnose my illness, and cure my sickness God can. This plus a bit of your own Faith and believed could help, if you really want or which to know if such chronic expectation is or it has been directly relate to your way of seeing, thinking, and perceiving God, and Jesus. My dear I don't which to say it, but this are the Two best Doctors in Life, creation, existence, and in the entire Universe. You don;t need me to find this out nor will you need a priest, its all up to you.<<< In the mean time I will prey for you in the distances>> God Bless you, in Jesus name Amen.
