Two french words:
"noblesse oblige"
Literally translated, it means "nobility obliges". Simply put, there is a ethical maxim that proposes that the privileged have a natural right to protect and provide for the underprivileged. Part of the responsibilty of being strong is protecting the weak, part of the responsibility of power is to defend the oppressed, part of the responsibility of being rich is caring for the poor, part of the responsibility of being an employer is to cultivate your employees to fulfill their potential.
Now, I'm certainly not arguing the USA does this well, is right in each choice to intervene in foreign affairs, or anything like that.
But that's the ethical and moral foundation that's supposed to underlie the intent of nations and politics.

Fortunately the US is the shining light for the rest of the world if the US disappeared tomorrow the strong in the world would start preying on the weak and they would be no one to help them just look at the united nations. Observe our recent history we freed Europe we bought democracy to Japan,South Korea, Bosnia and the only reason that some countries don't make a move on others is because they know we would not stand for it. So it does seem that we are involve all over the world but unfortunately no other country has the strength or courage to do it so it is something to be proud of

Because the US thinks they are better than everyone else, and they think they can change everyone else. I'm proud to have all the freedoms we have, but not everyone thinks that we are all we think we are. Sometimes we should just mind our own business, and stop trying to solve the world's problems. I have 2 brothers that were in the Army and were both sent to Iraq during the beginning of the war, and they said that there were a bunch of soldiers there who didn't even want to be there. They didn't support the war and were only doing their jobs. It's sad to think that they had to be there just b/c we are too nosy for our own good. I understand standing up for ourselves, but not everything is directed towards us.

We would love nothing more than to mind our own business and let the rest of the world annihilate each other.
Unfortunately, this is the only planet we have and we all have to share it. So grow up or the biggest kid on the block will have to continue to get involved!

Because USA is a empire the only one yet (maybe in 10 or 15 years China and India challenge us), like the Romans 2.000 years ago and need supplies that´s why US think can rule the world.

There is a cadre of people running America who do this to maintain their own wealth and power interests. They have to continually lie to Americans to do this, because Americans are basically good people who think their govt. is spreading what's good about America. This, of course, is a very shallow view, borne of ignorance.
I'm sure you noticed that America minded its business just fine about Rwanda.
So, they are not doing it because they want to judge the world - that is the excuse given to justify keeping the countries 'in line' with the demands of, currently, the bush crime family.

USA is the last world power left on the "free world" side. Does US really want to not maintain alliances with other free world countries? Or do we lend our hand when they need our military help? It's a question of do we lead or do we just say leave us alone and go figure it out yourselves?

yes, we should have minded our own business when the Nazis marched into Poland, Czechoslovakia and then France. Yes, we should have turned our backs on the millions that were slaughtered by the Nazis. And while the US is at it, we should ignore the world when there is a disaster, like a tsunami/earthquake/mudslide/typhoon/drought/flood/famine etc...
If they STOP ASKING US FOR OUR HELP, WE'LL STOP GETTING INVOLVED.

I couldn't even imagine what this world would be like if we didn't have the USA...The US has an obligation, as a world leader to intervene. It's called the "Balance of Power."
