Perhaps the brain is the interface for the spiritual consciousness to be able to interact with the physical world.

You really should think your arguments out a little better.

Your arguement is (unfortunately) logically fallacious. Just because brains cause living entities to think doesn't mean that they're the only way something can think. It is possible that even the walls think, but that brains are the only thing that give thinking entities the capability of responding. HOWEVER:

Since brains respond to chemicals, I would sugguest that if a spirit did think, it would be disconnected from the consciousness of the living body, so if there is an afterlife, "You" won't go there, your "spirit" will go there, and your spirit doesn't have the same identity. In short, all this hard work for salvation is going to pay off for something else.

That isn't necessarily true.
Everything you are basing your reasoning on are things that you can see, or what scientists have reasoned.

WE humans, exist NOT because of our brain, but because of Jehovah God, "the source of life". It is his spirit that sustains us, through our brains, but by means of his spirit.

Yes, spirits can think. Just because they don't have what we have (fleshly brains) as a thinking device does not mean that they cannot think.
Jehovah had to think (or what we know a to think) to create the universe.
We were "made in his image" so we have the same qualities and many of the same abilities that He does. We think because he thinks. But his range of thinking goes beyond time and measure, while we can only think so far.

The Bible doens't teach that the soul is immortal (so dead folks can't think because the SPIRIT, the life-sustenance is gone, cuz when we die our brains are still there, lol), so you're not upsetting me, but rather those "Christians" that don't abide by what the Bible says. I'm sorry that those types of Christians have cause you to think we are hypocrites and what not, but not all "Christians" are the same. Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians, but the only difference is we go by what the Bible tells us, not by what the church comes up with or what they say.

Anyhooo, I respect what you believe, and hopefull you've taken into consideration what I have to say.

One thing I notice about a lot of Athiests: You ask us questions. Apparently you're looking for something, lol. I hope you find it. (open your hearts, open your minds) :)

You are such a worldly thinker! Jesus returned a Spirit in a Spiritual Body it could go through Closed doors. Eat & Drink, and Jesus was still instructing the Deciples so he must have been thinking. The Worlds of Flesh and Spirit are not the same fisicaly. God is a Spirit and We will all return to that Spirit. that are his Just like Jesus did. and have a Body just like Jesus does.
The Brain is the Soul you have to turn your thinking around and save your Soul.

Heres a thought: the spirit is the "life" in a being. Without a spirit, you would not be able to respond to certain stimlui in the first place, in other words, your body would be dead. This makes sense, logically; there are dead (completely unconcious, not responding to stimuli, etc) beings that have brains, ie. you can be dead and still have a brain. Clearly, the brain is not THE thing that is keeping one alive and concious.

Your reasoning is warped. God could think enough to have created everything we have or will ever have. You are here today asking stupid questions because God loved you and created the earth and everything else. I would guess that you are six years old at the most with a maturity of a three year old. And an IQ of 3 to 6. God's ways are so far above our ways that we can only understand what He wants us to. I hope that you come to understand spiritual things and beings better than you do now.

What precisely is the scientific evidence which leads you to believe that consciousness is an epiphenomenal byproduct of brain function? Can you offer a thoroughgoing materialist account of consciousness which doesn't end in absurd reductionism? If so, publish, my boy; you've got one up on every materialist philosopher of mind out there.

On the other hand, if you can't, you'd do better to shut up and start reading some serious texts on consciousness and the mind-body problem.

It is not you physical body that does all this stuff. The spirit is life. after God made Adam from the dirt, he was not alive, but God breath in his nostril so that he can be alive. Your physical body is just you spirit's house. your spirit is your soul. god will not judge your died body, but your soul or spirit for it can't die as far I know. we are not like animals because we are the only one that the bible say that God breath the Spirit of life in.

You are so wrong.

Look at Matthew 8. Jesus come upon two men possessed by devils.

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

1. They think.
2. They recognize Jesus Christ.
3. They recognize Him as the Son of God.
4. They speak of a timeline

On a more secular level, members of my family have been visited by, and communicated with, spirits who relayed info regarding future events that came to pass.

Make no mistake - there is an afterlife.

What causes a flesh brain to be able to "think"? Why is our "thinking" organ what we consider to be "us"? Why is it that if the brain stops functioning, we are considered "dead", even if the rest of our body keeps on working?

Is it all just electrical impulses or is there something else going on with our consciousness?
