Merry Meet and Happy Lughnasadh to you too! I'm thankful for my love who takes care of me as I take care of him, I'm thankful for my friends, and even though I'm not working right now, because of that I don't have to go outside in this heat wave, and I'm thankful for that.

I'm even thankful for silly children like the first answerer to this question, who needs to learn how to spell Pocahontas, because people like her give me the opportunity to stand up for my beliefs and my right to have them. I love how children like her think that snarling at me that I'm going to (their nonexistant) hell is going to make me fall at their feet. That'll be the day.

And I'm thankful to see each and every Pagan like you on this board. There are a lot more of us than people think, and more every day,

Blessed Be!

My soon-to-be hubby, our dog, our jobs, our house. The loving family and friends that we have who will be celebrating our wedding with us. The opportunities we've received that have allowed us to realize some of our dreams this year.

Blessed Lammas!!

For those asking what Lughnasadh/Lammas is:

Lammas, the first of the Harvest Festivals, marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. The days grow noticeably shorter; there may be a cool spell or two to cut the heat of summer.

'Lammas' is actually a medieval Christian name meaning "loaf-mass" or the "Feast of Bread" from the Saxon word, Hlaf-mass. As the feast name indicates, this was the grain harvest from which loaves of bread were baked and given up in offering. In Irish-Gaelic, the name for the festival was 'Lugnasadh' and referred to the games or "nasad" of the Irish sun-god, Lugh. Lugh, or as he was known in Ireland, Lugh of the Long Hand, son of the Sun, held the games in honor of the memory of his foster-mother, Taillte.

Lammas is the first of the three harvest festivals (the others being Mabon (fall equinox, Sept. 23 this year) and Samhain (Oct 31)), and symbolizes the waning strength of Bel, (Belenos) the Celtic god of light. It emphasizes his willingness as Corn King to sacrifice himself so that the tribe may endure the winter months ahead with sustenance and hope; that hope being grounded in the mystery of the Cauldron of Rebirth.

I'm thankful for air conditioning at work and my membership to the rec center so we can swim! For rows and rows of yumminess at the farm, that my dog is the coolest dog ever, that my family is healthy, and it's almost back to school so they can stop trying to kill each other, that I wake up next to my beloved every morning (except those 100 degree mornings) and that I have so many wonderful people to share the holiday with (we're celebrating over the weekend with a big group camping thing).

I am thankful that my boys are back home from visiting family. I took the day off work today and we spent all day at the pool playing in the sun.

I'm thankful for the beautiful sun shining and helping my plants grow. I'm also thankful for trees to shade me, when the sun is so bright and hot.

I'm thankful for my life, all of it. Even Christians. They keep me thinking.
