work and take advantage of the US system. Get welfare, foodstamps and free medical? Why don't they emphasize all their anger towards those employers? And if you answer that there is no work because it is taken by illegals, then you must not really want to work and sit back and take in the 'free' living the government is providing!

I agree with those that said they think it is about race. I have a husband who is a LEGAL Mexican and everywhere we go people give him dirty looks and say crap about him. They automatically ASSUME he is illegal because he is Hispanic and give him crap. Face it, you can’t tell if someone is illegal or not so it is best to keep one’s mouth closed so that they aren’t inserting their foot in it. NO ONE wants Mexicans or Hispanics here whether legal or not because they are a discriminated race. I hear all these people screaming that they would be fine if the Hispanics would just go through the process of being an American citizen the legal way…Then I hear people screaming that they don’t want them here at all because if they do get legal then they will want more money for the crappy jobs they slave away at and god forbid we give them more money and have to pay more taxes. Then people talk about throwing illegals in jail. Which makes absolutely no damn sense to me because then we are just paying taxes to house them in their own little cell with a tv and 3 meals a day. Cozy. Personally I believe that those that want to truly become citizens and are willing to pay penalty fees and go through the whole legal process, should be given that chance. The ones that don’t can go back to Mexico but I can assure you that many of them do want the chance to be able to be citizens, to buy their own homes, to give their children a chance at an education they never got, to have a better life.

a. "Able Americans" don't take those jobs for two reasons:
1. They'd be forced to work for ridiculously low wages.
2. They'd be forced to work around the illegals in general- I've been to Burger Kings where everyone behind the counter is talking Spanish and the cashier starts talking in broken English.
b. Actually, I agree with you on what you said about the people on public aid: They SHOULD be working the jobs the Mexicans do!
c. Many people can't get certain jobs- even if they aren't taken by illegals (and I know this first-hand)- because they don't speak Spanish! It always seems like the legal immigrants in this country learn the language quickly- and I know two Polish legal immigrant families, a family of legal Mexicans, and I knew a legal immigrant from Kosovo that learned English within a year of living here. Why is it that the legal ones learn faster? When legal immigrants come into this country, they come to have a better life- however, they do it legally and have a great respect for the country that accepts them. They feel that they are a part of it and want to keep it a free, safe, and high-level place to live.

What separates them from illegals? When illegals come (and this isn't all of them- just most), they just do one illegal thing after the other. They also take a lot from the government- and they give very little (if at all) in return. The grand majority pledge their allegiance to their previous country, and to them America is just a place to get money. I'm sure some of you can name me a few illegals who love this country, but the grand majority doesn't- just talk to their children, watch tapes of the rallies, look at crime rates, etc.
d. One more quick note: We have a family friend that used to live in the South, and according to her small farm jobs were once worked by teens who wanted extra cash. I also see smaller farms in Arizona being worked by the family of the people who own them. Smaller farms can use the people mentioned, while larger farms can use anyone interested in making some extra cash as well as anyone on public aid, and *possibly* even prisoners if they can work something out. (Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be needed. XD)

There are a "lack" of jobs in the US that can provide for the average American family due to the immigrants driving down the wages in this country because they pool together and they can afford to work for less. The problem with this is the culture in which Americans have been raised in, acknowledges inflation and it is this inflation that causes the need for Americans to receive raises at work or "cost of living increases". Do you think ALL Amercians should just change the way we live just because immigrants come here and live differently? We did not invade Mexico or any other country and tell them to live different or else! Lastly the US welfare system was paid for by US taxpayers and many immigrants are illegal which means they get paid US Dollars which other Americans have paid the tax on. Therefore it is the immigrant who has dodged helping to pay for this welfare system. Do you think they are entitled to use that same system? You might want to think about those questions before you post subjects like this on community boards. Good Day!

It is not that we "hate" illegals, it is that we do not respect the fact that you broke the law to get here in the first place - assuming you are here "illegally" - and that if you have a regular job that pays you other than cash under the table, you committed another crime by using forged or stolen documents to get and keep that job. Many break the law again by driving without a license or insurance. Why should Americans respect those who so willingly and flagrantly break the laws of this country? In the border states along the line with Mexico, many are coming across the border to freely use our medical and other services that Mexico will not provide for them. Americans have fought to get what they have here. Do not come to America as an illegal just to escape that which you are unwilling to fight for in your own country.

Just because Mexicans come up here and think that maybe $7.50 hr. is good living doesn't mean us white people have to accept the same fate!! Forget the crap about us so called privileged Americans not wanting to do the same work! Of course not!! Life is about car insurance, mortgages, food in my mouth and so on. Why don't you work for nothing and see how happy you are to be an American!?! Pretty tough to maintain this economic capitalist system if everyone is stuck making chump change for their efforts and hence paying less in taxes to the government. If this keeps up,, we'll be a third world country just like Mexico!!!

You assume people "hate" illegal immigrants just because they don't want them here. That is not true of the vast majority of those who believe illegal immigrants should not be here. Sure there are extremist that "hate" but the vast majority does not hate the Hispanics or anyone else here illegally - they just want the laws of our land enforced and not ignored. Why is that too much to ask? If we ignore the laws protecting our own border we have to wonder what other laws will some day be ignored? Free speech, right to bear arms, right to deny self incrimination? What laws are next?

i don't feel too many jobs are stolen. most illegals stay poorer because they have to work for so much less that the legal workers would not take the job. its not that most won't take the job, most won't work for the bargain basement price an illegal will work for.

i don't think many people hate illegals for getting hired. the jobs are not exactly honest though. police and federal agents don't execute immigration raids on "honest" jobs.

any opposition i have to illegals is a matter of security. they break the laws of our country to sneak in and live off of our economy. employers who hire them break the law by paying them under the table.

IF you will recall, there was not that much of a problem with "illegals" prior to 9/11. Now, so many South American gangs have ties to terrorist organizations, that we HAVE to tighten our borders. And, yes, it is costing a lot to supply medical care, etc. The legal aliens ARE hard workers, and most of them I've spoken with are even more pissed at the illegals than we "greengos" are.

The jobs were getting done before the wave of illegals hit this country. But the employers can get away with paying lower wages ,so its not that the jobs would not get done they would have to pay at least min. wage to an American.I tell you what needs to happen - the illegals need to teach us Americans a lesson and leave our country and see if we can handle it. One of two things will happen - we'll have better border security and be doing fine or we'll be beggin' em' back. PLEASE teach us a lesson !!!!!!
