I talked to my dad earlier about meeting my bf justin, and at first he was talking about how Justin is 18, and im 17 in two months of course, but he still calls me 16 like im a kid or something. So he was saying bring him over, im going to talk to him and ask him why he is interested in me. I think that my dad is scared of me dating or something b/c he probably feels im going to forget about him or something...I have no idea....I know ill always be his little girl, but i wish my dad would just trust me. If i reallly like Justin, He should give me a chance shouldn't he? My mom even wants me to start dating. These years go by fast and pretty soon ill be graduating anyway so why is my dad still holding on so much. He's too freakin strict and i hate it. Justin's coming over tonight at 7p.m. and im nervous/scared/etc....Is this normal for my dad meeting one of my bf's for the first time? I need some advice on what to do or say to my dad about letting us go on. I really hope my dad like him

"I'm going to talk to him and ask him why he is interested in me".

That's a bit rough. It kinda puts Justin on the spot a bit doesn't it...

Even the way he said it it's like he suspects Justin is up to no good.

Get your mom to talk to him. Your mom will stick up for you and get her to make sure he doesn't say anything embarrassing. Have something to cut him off with if he starts getting a bit heavy.

Hope this helps.
Good luck with tonight.

Take care.

Oh boy! I can remember those days....even more so now because my daughter just graduated and she's only had one steady boyfriend throughout all of high school and that only lasted a couple months. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but it is all part of growing up. See, in the "olden" days, it was a requirement for the date to meet the daughters dad...which I still think is a good idea. No need to be worried unless Justin has other motives that your dad may or may not pick up on. Father's intuition is a very serious thing. Are you his oldest/youngest/or only daughter? This could be the reasoning for his protectiveness. Good luck tonight....let us know how it turns out.

Relax. Everything will be ok.
Father knows best tho remember that.
Parents have been around for alot longer than we have.
They know what's best for us and don't do things out of spite, anger or hateration. Hateration = people who hate.
