Canada is looked at as the unwanted lil neighbor to the north.....empty apartment above a huge party?
Are you saddened that the world has termed you this?
or do you feel that you will always live in the shadow of America?

I think that the whole sewing a canadaian flag on your bagpack is just a lie told by your goverment to make you feel important. I have yet to meet anyone who has swen a flag on their backpack and said they were canadian. That is laughable to even think an American would do that......like i said before..canada is only known in the world because they are Americas neighbor...sorry as i know the truth hurts...

I am proud to be a Canadian!
The only people who think we are the unwanted lil neighbor is the American. Other countries love Canada, why would they not? We don't go to war just for being at war, we are mostly peace keepers everywhere we go.
I would not want to be living down there. We Canadian think of you as the little bully brother of the south, especially with the leader you guys have right now.. and I am sure other countries have better titles for you guys. :)

This is the view of some Americans and other nationalities, but it is not mine.

Just like I mentioned in another answer, all these opinions just cause more hate in the world, which no one needs.

WOW! I just checked back three hours after my last answer. This is like a war zone. Maybe some Americans and Canadians will never like each other. This is similar to the way the Arabs hate the Israelis (and look what their doing to the Lebanese), Italians hate the French or Greeks, Turks hate the Greeks or Poles hate the Germans. VERY SCARY.

I keep noticing the flag comments. I would never wear a flag no matter where I'm from. The mentality has never impressed me; it is in fact is a little frightening and not looked at well in some countries that I've lived in. I always question if these people think of themselves as better in some way.

We are all born as we are. I don't understand why people stand behind a flag. I have always tried to present myself as an individual. Yes, our country shapes us in some ways but so do MANY other factors (experiences). I see myself as more than only "my country".

There's so much more to life, to me and all of you here than to react to the hate found in some of these questions.

Are you American? I hope so.... seeing as you used the spelling "neighbor"....... get a frickin' life! Look, I don't know what Canadian guy beat your a$$ or what Canadian girl broke your heart that caused you to be so jaded, but this truly is the best place in the world to live. If you feel like the US is better then you shouldn't have to spend a lot of time b*tching about other countries you've probably never even been to. It's called jealousy, insecurity, xenophobia, and ignorance. Ppl love the underdog, and the whole world hates the US right now in case you haven't noticed.

You're American, so you're a Nazi. Why don't you come north of the border and see what a real country is?

Atta boy Nazi.

By the way, you are once again wrong if you think Europeans don't hate Americans. Thats pretty laughable. If everyone likes you guys so much, why do ALL americans who travel outside the states sew a canadian flag on their backpack. Because Canadians are respected worldwide. Americans are hated.

We all know how jealous you are of Canada, so keep the questions coming. They make you look pretty stupid.

The world hasn't "termed" us anything of the sort. Canada doesn't live in the shadow of America. It is Americans who say that, and believe it. Another example of American gung-ho jingoism. You don't understand something, so you make fun of it, demean it, or put it down (or invade it).

If you don't like or don't care about Canada, that's fine by me. We will continue to quietly go about our lives, happy in the knowledge that we, unlike our neighbours to the south, are not hated and despised by most of the rest of the world.

I am proud and happy to be a Canadian. I was born and grew up in Dublin, Ireland, but emigrated to Canada 10 years ago, and became a Canadian citizen two years ago. I like Canada and it's people. I feel safe here. It's a good place to be.

lol Where are you getting this information from?

The only reason Canada is sometimes veiwed as smaller than America (which is strange, because Canada is larger but America is more populated due to temperatures) is because of stereotypes. It doesn't bother me, being a Canadian citizen. I sure as hell don't want to be living in America right now, no offense. Especially because of Good 'ol George W.

I'm not really phased by it. I don't see why I should be??

Why should I be ashamed of being Canadian?

When we travel the world it's not like we have to wear another country's flag and pretend to be a citizen of that country because we're globally hated. I'd rather be Canadian than a 'fat, ignorant American'. That's how YOU'RE known worldwide.

*edit*

jtj and jambo-hilarious!!

Btw, if you're this bitter, those girls did a number on you. Get over it.

Canada is the best country and Americans know it. Some countries won't even serve Americans. In Korea that happened to my friends friend. She got food because she's Canadian and he got nothing because he's American.
I would be ashamed to be American. No wonder the world HATES you guys.
