I was just thinking that! It's sort've scary to think about how many people don't give God the glory he deserves. No one said being Christian would be easy. It never has been. All you can do is stay true to your soul, and you will be rewarded.

Ok, first off, there are alot of black sheep in the Christian community.
Those that constant preach to people, tell people they are going to hell if they dun believe in God. Keep on pestering people.
They try all ways to convert you, bashing other religions.
Saying you must embrace Jesus, or you will have no light in life.
That sort of thing.
Some of them couldn't care less of other people religions, and condemn them straight to hell.

They seriously need to wake up from their biased beliefs
The bible.
Pastors teach ONLY the parts that look good on Jesus.
They skip everything that they do not want people to really go in depth. Read the bible thoroughly and you will be amazed by the cruelty of Jesus and God.

Now, its not that christians are wrong.
Its that believing a religion causes so much stress on people and the world.
Look at the middle east. There are people killing each other just because you dun believe in MY god
And the worst thing about them.
You couldn't even reason with them.

Religion imparts control and fear to people.
Fear of going to hell.
Fear of God.
Fear of Sins.
And this results in the church having a control over people saying that the church can help you remove all your secular notions.

Remember the bible is supposed to be written over 2000years ago.
What is good for the people then, is not neccesarily good for the people now.

Read Sam Harris: End of faith
get a perspective about what kind of horrors and terrors religion bring.
Its not only about christians.
Its religion.

The basic problem that you're trying to deal with is called ethnocentrism. The term, coined by sociologist William Graham Sumner around the turn of the twentieth century, literally means "to be centered in the culture."

It means that ethnocentric people see their culture as being best and superior to other cultures. Religion is an important component of virtually all cultures.

As we are socialized (taught the rights and wrongs of our people), we learn only about "our" religion, not all religions. Therefore, our religion (whatever it is) is the only true religion in our eyes. Therefore, all other religions are either false or faulty.

I think that "Christian bashing" is a reaction to the strong ethnocentrism of our Christian-based culture. As young people get to know the rest of the world through modern, instant mass communication, they tend to see this built-in bias.

However, it is important to understand that all cultures (and their religions) are ethnocentric to a greater or lesser extent. It's the nature of the beast.

I don't know if anyone has realised this but The KKK and most of the other hate groups are Christian. they believe that Christians are all powerful and if you're not Christian you're crap. I guess with all the attention Christians have gotten over the years, they have come to abuse their power. Have you ever noticed that if something major happens in the world and people are asked on opinions or anything of the sort, you hear everything from Christian or Catholic churchs. It's quite sickening. (I was sadly born into Catholic family so don't call me racist)

Christians are not the only religion that believe their way is the one right and true way. Anyone believing that is wrong. That's what I have a problem with. I have lots of christian friends and we just leave the religion out of our friendships. A good theological debate is fun every once in a while. It usually only happens when we're drunk and easily offended. In the end they accept I'm different. When Christians get off my case I'll get off theirs.

That is a very good question. As for me I think people see the bad things that christians do and think that they are all the same. Take our president for an example, he claims to be such an upstanding christian but he sent our troops into a war that is killing thousands of young men and women but on the other hand doesnt pass a stem cell bill that could cure thousands of sick people. Hypocrit?????

well, i agree with you. i would never say anything about any other minority the way that i hear people talk bad about christians. i try to believe that absolutely everyone in the world--athiests, pagans, red & yellow black & white, EVERYONE can have positive input in my life.

this is just an example: when people say ridiculous, sweeping generalizations about black people, my thought is, "How sad for them that they are so fearful, so ignorant, so insecure in themselves--even so *threatened* by this people group that they have to stoop to insults and hatred."

same with christians. why in the world are people so threatened? could it be the truth-seeking part of all of us? how would we have to change our lives if there really IS a god who loves us? something about being confronted with the loving truth collides with everything inside each one of us, christians or not. insulting and hating christians might be a good way to rebel against the possibility of god.

on the other hand, christians who are very confrontational and intentionally offensive need to understand that the gospel is offensive enough as it is--that is straight from the bible itself--and all christians have to do is live the life, rather than bill-board-ing an "anti-sinners" message. god loves everyone and wants everyone to go to heaven--that's also straight from the bible. for various reasons, that can be very, very threatening to a lot of people.

Because Christianity teaches certain moral things that some people just don't want to hear. Things that don't jive with their permissive, anything-goes lifestyles.

So, they feel the psychological need to trash Christianity, to bash it, to defame it, to discredit it -- because by doing these things, it "builds up" their own way of thinking and gives further rationalization for it.

If Christianity said OK to things that these folks hold near and dear -- homosexuality, abortion, free-for-all sex, and so on -- they wouldn't be on here bashing it.

Almost every war that has started was by religion. Mostly between Christians and Jews. I think If your god is a god of truth and love, then why are you killing people to prove that? I think its people who critsize other people for not going to church that are being bashed.

Like, I go to this really small church and they all ways lookin me funny just because I don't go to church every Sunday. Church is like school to learn about life and Him, The bible is your text book. But this school is not mandatory.
The people always say to me, "wellll, if you had went to church this sunday you would know we were having a cook out".
I sorry to say this but the kids who go there are really bad. I might not go to church but atleast I know how to behave.

And those are the people they bash!

People only expect tolorence for themselves and their beliefs, most of the time. It doesn't really matter weather it's about religion or politics or even the proper food to eat. Pesky people and their first ammendment rights. Nobody is wrong all the time just as no one is right all the time.
