Actually if you read the Five books of Moses there are many ways to atone. Sacrifices the least of them. Also Wit the destruction of the First temple sacrifices all but ceased. So in the alleged time of Jesus they were not being done.
Which of course leads to the question what good did his death bring?

The existance of Christianity has little to do with Jesus - 70 years after his death the Romans destroyed virtually all trace of christianity in Israel (Judea) along with many of the jews. The existance of Christianity is down to a Paul - a Roman who fell and had a vision which he turned into a religion totally opposing the apposals and nearly getting stoned to death for it. He also broke all the rules and preached his beliefs to gentiles (non jews)
Then in 325 AD Constantine (encouraged by his mother Helen) realised that he could use these christian beliefs to oppress and manipulate the people. So he merged the Christian and Roman religions and thats been the way of christanity ever since. (all the christian festivals are actually pagan festivals christmas is the winter solstice and easter is the spring equinox which was done to enslave the pagans and convert them to christianity.
So they stopped slaughtering animals and have spent the last two thousand years slaughtering people instead - especially transsexuals and gays.
Oh and Jesus didn't come down - he was born - and he died - He was a great well educated teacher and speaker but I really cannot believe any of the virgin birth or ressurrection or sone of god stuff - it's all part of the way christianity is used to manipulate.

Correction christians did not make sacrificies, but Israels people, now called Jewish. Bible divided into two sections, Old Testament and New Testament. In the old testament, you will find sacrificial offerings amde to God. In the new testament you will find some done by the Jewish people up until Christ's sacrific. Christians don't make animal sacrifices, the word of God tells us to present ourselves in live sacrific upon the Lord. Need to get your facts straight before you ask a question.

Well, I suppose that if God hadn't made a way through jesus Christ, we'd still be making sacrifices to this day! God gave us His only begotten Son so that we wouldn't have to make animal sacrifices and yet have even stronger forgiveness than before as long as we followed God's salvation plan and lived a sanctified life afterward.

Nope, we wouldnt be slaughtering lambs on alters because the law of Moses is to much for us humans to keep for any length of time.
Christianity is gorey, Jesus was beaten and disfigured beyond any man, ever, and he willingly endured it for YOU and me, even though he knew that ungratefull, wretched humans would be moking, and misrepresenting him for over 2000 years.
A prophesy concerning Jesus.
Isaiah 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Have a little respect.
"But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and
destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand
not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;"
2 Peter 2:12, KJV
"But these speak evil of those things which they know not:
but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those
things they corrupt themselves."
Jude 1:10, KJV
He knows you. Repent.

Am I missing something here? If jesus hadn't come down, how could we have christians?
I'm an atheist, but there are much better reasons for not believing in god than his goryness quotient!

In case you haven't noticed, the things people do to one another are pretty gory. That is why God calls them "sin", and that is why they demand a rather gory punishment...that is, death.
The point, I think, is that Jesus DID come down...and also ROSE AGAIN!!

blood sacrifice is a man made tradition, what man kind did not understand in his beginning he attributed to super natural powers and thus ( ? created god) so in his own poor understanding he thought that god wanted something from man to please him , so he offered his best gift , living things ( weather human sacrifice or animal sacrifice )
