Well, since Christianity holds that there really IS a god, it at least tells untruths (since there is no god). Whether those untrue statements are actual lies depends on the extent to which you think that intent is part of what makes an untruth a "lie".

That being said, it's quite clear that many individual Christians (as opposed to Christianity itself) DO tell lies about god. There's quite a bit of deliberate lying among creationists, antiabortionists, the antigay folks, etc. Honesty is clearly not a strong point for Christians in general, and especially for the Christian right.

It's just a technicality, but christianity is a religion. Is it the Bible you mean, or do you mean Christians, or their religious leaders? And do you mean Catholicism or Protestantism, and if so, which type? Mormons believe in Jesus, do you mean them?

It all depends on who God is, if there is one, and I don't think anyone ever finds out in life. The most you can do is decide. Deciding is different from knowing. Faith is not knowing. It is deciding. Proof negates faith.

Sorry, I was a theology major in college, and these are the kinds of things we discussed and researched.

That would certainly make sense. Christianity likes the present god as an omnipotent, omniscient, all loving being, but for reasons I've discussed before, that's impossible. It is possible that Christianity and monotheism in general has misrepresented god as all loving in an attempt to garner worshippers.

No. The faith of Christianity takes the Word of God to heart and lives by it because God's Word is the only truth.

Yes, who are they to say how many gods there are in the first place. No living thing can know anything about the gods. It's all speculation. The Christians saying their way is the one right way to god is ludicrous. They claim to know exactly what god wants and says. And they try to force it down everyone's throat. Missionary, anyone? Sick.

How can an abstract noun tell lies?

Now, perhaps some individual Christians tell lies, just as some individual atheists tell lies.

Not true christianity that is based on the life of Jesus christ. He fulfilled all prophecy regarding the scriptures ( 2 corinthians 1:20). HIs true followers would speak according to the bible also. By reading and understanding the content of any scripture you can tell if someone is guided by truth or falsehood.

There are many who call themselves 'Christan's' who tell lies about God, even as we have some bad cops, politicians, catholic priests and mailmen.
The best way is to find Him for yourself and have a personal relationship with Him. That also helped me find out who the 'posers' are!

Human beings knowingly or unknowingly repeat untruths. It is impossible for God to lie for to do so would contradict what He is. Jesus desribes Himself as the Way theTruth the LIfe. Everything He brings us to our limited understaning of who God is.
