i am stumped. i haven't noticed any new problems with illegal immigration over the past decade or so. i grew up in texas and have spent the last 4 years in california: i am considering that an exhaustive study of border states... so what gives? i am hoping for answers that will help me understand what problem we hope to address with legislation, because most of the debates i find are limited to whether someone should be here illegally or not. i don't care! if they're here, i want to know why it should matter to me enough to spend the money to deport them! because right now, the government is pitching the same plan from two decades ago that didn't work. and i'm not anxious to try it again, when it seems like we're stuck in the same position!

so my question to all of you is... why is immigration a priority for you? what do you hope the government can fix?

shirley e... you could go on and on, but stop and think... have you ever experienced any of what you describe or do you just hear about it?
every single rule we have is going to be stretched and abused by someone. what i want to know is, is this a problem or not? have you waited for hours and hours at the e.r. or not?
you too applpro... because i see a flaw in your logic. how are the illegals responsible for 90% of local crime, yet still here? that means they are either caught and deported (and that's how you know who is responsible) OR you have no idea and just said that. which is it? are there infinite numbers of them so they still cause 90% of local crime even though we deport and catch these criminals? that doesn't make any sense!
or, like most things is it just something we all decided to freak out over when it actually doesn't impact our lives at all? how's that war on drugs comin'?

catherine w, you are the problem.
you said:
"None of the rest of us did because we knew most of it was going for taxes"
which means, americans are lazy because our government takes care of our needs. we can choose to do the bare minimum because america is such a nice place to live.
and now what are you doing? you are so mad that she did this you said at the end they should be killed because that would be the cheapest use of our resources. because you were too lazy to say anything to your boss who you saw break the law. and now, you want the government to save you from these people who make you look as lazy and worthless as you are.
good job! that's why those immigrants are doing so well here. it's because of people like you who don't have the sense to use the tools you were born with. and now, you begrudge your employer the ability to choose to make better use of resources by paying someone who wants to work for cheap rather than you. nice!

bh, i didn't ask about mexicans. and no, i don't want the government to be "proactive". that's how we got this here war on terror... i want them to have specific goals when they use their power because then i can see if they're doing a good job. there are no specific goals in the war on terror, therefore it doesn't matter that iraq is a mess and we haven't caught osama yet. that sucks... i want a way to gauge progress when they try to fix a problem. so i would like to describe the problem first, then see if our solutions work or not. senseless laws don't enable civilization because they are too vague and easily ignored or forgotten.

catherine w... think again. you say you live in a multi racial military town and that "they have earned the right to call themselves Americans". what have you earned? "they" are still not YOU! all you did was fall outta your momma on this side of the border! and now you say, "oh i looked into it and she was in the process of getting her papers, so it's the fault of people like you who hire illegals for lower wages". you stupid ****, you just admitted she wasn't an illegal! so i was right! you just HATE people that make you look as lazy as you are, like that mexican girl you want us to kill for you ;)
god bless america!

It's a priority to me because I am one. That said there is a slight difference being a Canadian than being a Mexican. We speak the same language as the US. Most of us are white which does make a difference in the US. Plus I am college educated as are my parents who moved here when I was 13. Mexicans tend to be un-educated but are very hard-working. They do the jobs that Americans think are beneath them. The Mexicans, like the Irish, Italians, and other groups that came to the US are just trying to make a better life for themselves the same as past immigrants to this country. Immigration is a priority because it makes the US a better place.

I worked with a Mexican girl several years ago, she was a hard worker and always worked overtime when no one else wanted to. None of the rest of us did because we knew most of it was going for taxes. For about a year everything she made she took home, tax free. If your going to be here, your going to be like me, pay taxes and speak English. They come across the borders and have their babies here so they can be Americans and get food stamps and healthcare and go right back across the border to live a better life, paid for by Americans tax free. If you go into any state offices they have people there to translate for these people that can't even speak our language, what kind of **** is that? I say we kill them instead of deporting them, it's cheaper and more efficient.
By the way there was nothing I could do because I did look into it, it was all legal because she was in the process of becoming legal. It's idiots like you that would hire them for a lower wage and make the Americans suffer. There are jobs out there that a lot of Americans won't do, but let me tell you,for example why the hell would I want to dig up trees for $5.00 an hour when I could work at McDonalds for $7.00 an hour. I'm not saying they can't come here, but speak English and pay taxes, don't just hand the **** out for free when we have people starving to death and dieing from lack of medical care here that our country can't take care of. Make them enlist in the military, make them earn that right. I live in a military town and there are all different races here. But you know what, they have earned that right to call themselves Americans. Stop wasting my money on someone who literally can't say thank you.

I live in Northern California and I see LOTS of Mexicans (I'm sure not all illegal, but will bet some are illegals) here driving like a55holes, causing accidents, yelling at women, getting rowdy in stores, and more.
It totally matters to me. I work with a lot of people from different countries that are here legally and I embrace them. They work, pay taxes, and contribute. The illegals do not pay taxes or contribute, and actually use lots of resources such as police, fire, rescue, insurance claims, etc.
Illegal = illegal. Period.
Should we wait until there is lots of evidence of problems and obvious examples of illegal immigration problems? I feel we should be proactive and simply enforce the laws.

Maybe you're correct, Slavery went on for a long time, gave the impression a disgrace to make legislation outlawing it - did it particularly make a change... Women had no rights for a long time, gave the impression a disgrace to make legislation pronouncing they're identical - did it make any change... Just cuz it has taken a whilst for persons to emerge as outraged at how damaged it's, doesn't suggest it ain't broke. California has been attempting for YEARS to do whatever approximately unlawful immigration and I think TX and AZ had been as good. Maybe one of the crucial principal states notion it used to be "looked after" over the final twenty years, however I can guarantee you the border states have now not. (oh yeah, gang individuals are nonetheless killing blameless persons, bet we misplaced that one too, so allow's ensure we do not make any legislation towards it - may not make any change.)

I for one am sick and tired of always GIVING to illegals when they dont give anything back. Do you realize what illegals are doing to some hospitals in this country because they have to give them free care? If illegals cant speak English we have to hire more teachers who can speak Spanish to teach them, that is a cost we as Americans should not have to do. I could go on and on but what would be the use?

It is natural for a people to migrate from a desolate area to a more prosperous area. This is how the world works. Nearly every immigrant is spurred to trek far and wide in desparate times.
After WWII my mother's family immigrated here from Poland after the Nazi devastation. They were met with prejuduce and no welcome. AND THEY ARE WHITE WHITIES! Blue eyes, blonde hair, rosey little cheeks...I'm telling you, some bigot a$$holes really have a more intricate system of HATE than most brown colors will know.

locally, i've seen & experienced what a heavy influx of illegals can do to an economy. They will work for cash for slave wages because they won't report any income, or very little. they send most of their money back to Mexico, instead of spending it locally. In addition to this, because their family are usually large, they need : food stamps, free heath care, etc. They also account for 90% of local crime.
We don't need them here, I am for rounding them up & deporting them ASAP!!

Illegal immigration, not acceptable
legal immigration, acceptable.
No 'if's, and's or but's..... PERIOD.
*Close the border,TIGHT!
*Enforce the law
*Step up border patrol
*Deport those found here illegally, as they are found
*Minimize illegal entry by fining anyone who hires, rents to or harbors illegal immigrants
*Reduce the number of immigrants coming into the USA overall.
*Do not give those here illegally amnesty!! (that only encourages more to come here)

Do you have kids in the public school? The cumulative numbers of poor illegals who (even if they pay taxes) cover little of their family's cost for education is doing more than costing money, it is ruining the schools for our own children.
That isn't acceptable.
