Saw an NCIS episode where Medal of Honor receipient wanted to be arrested for supposedly killing his buddy in Iwo Jima. My question is in regards to the respect given this receipient, from active duty military. Do they really still come to attention and salute when they recognize the medal/receipient? Does this method of respect differ between branches?

It is not required to salute but if recognized or they see someone wearing the MOH the salute is rendered as a matter of respect.
