Probably, start cutting down sippy cup time. Use a real cup at sit down meals or other calmer times when the cup can be on the table and she can come to it. I wouldn't worry about her still having one to play out side or when its a busy time, company over, when she's excited. The one thing I've heard is they eventually may cause dental problems so common sense you don't want her on one when she's six but during the day when being careful isn't as practical is fine. Good luck

My kids are 3 and 5 and still use them in areas of the house that I don't want spills in. At the table we use regular cups.
One thing that may be an issue is if you want your daughter to start preschool, most have the children drinking from open cups. She might appreciate already being familiar with how to drink from an open cup so she doesn't have to learn this away from home (and away from a quick change of clothes if her shirt and pants get wet).

3 is probably a good age to start getting them off of it, my son would rather use a "big boy" cup but I still make him use the sippie cup because I get tired of cleaning up the spills, he is 2 1/2

try the real cup most of the time but switch to the sippie cup once in a while so you won't have to clean so much. Using the real cup most of the time will help your daughter getting used to drinking from a real cup just be prepared to wash a lot of clothes.
P.S.
Use non-staining drinks!!!!!!!!!

I have a mug with a lid and a straw, and I'm 48. Just switch it to a cup for a "big girl", with a straw instead of the sippie cup, still won't have a mess. We all spill sometimes, I use mine when I'm on the computer, or when i'm driving.

I think now is a good time, no huge deal though, they won't use one forever! My son was about 1 1/2 when he started using a real cup, not many spills either. Just make them feel special when you move them up to a real cup - praise goes a long way! Good luck.

If she is going to go to preschool she needs to know how to drink from a cup. I would have her start with just water so you don't have a sticky mess if she does spill. Most 3 year olds have the hand-eye coordination to drink from a cup without spilling most of the time...although there are the occasional ( but I WASN'T playing around!) accidents...she should do just fine.

My daughter is 14 months and will drink from a cup with a lid and straw. The first years makes a take and toss cup with lid and straw that doesn't leak. (I never toss)
You just have to be careful when you put the lid on, make sure you put the straw in second or else liquid squirts out of the straw.

I think u should at 3 or 4 . My cousin won't drink milk anymore because they took it away. I would give them a cup with a lid it will not be messy. you shouldn't just take it away ease out of it give it one once in a while then slowly it won't want it anymore.
