Oh no. Not tactful at all. Most wedding receptions have music, dancing, throwing of bouquet and garter, cutting cakes, toasting and eating. This is all entertainment. Some people have other entertainment that includes their guest such as the all married couples dance (give a prize to the couple who has been married the longest).
Your wedding day should be special and classy (ceremony and reception). You could have a good time at your wedding reception without being drunk. You don't want everyone remember how drunk you were at your reception nor do you want to remember years later (could be embarassing). Your friends and family should understand that this is a special day and you can entertain and do the jokes at a family cookout or whatever but not on your wedding day. Don't embarrass yourself or your soon to be wife.

When you're really drunk you just THINK you entertain everybody. They're probably embarassed and ashamed and just laugh because you're laughing at yourself.
It would be extremely bad manners and in extremely bad taste to get drunk at you wedding. To have your bride pouring you into bed, watching you pass out, and probably be sick all night would give rise to her calling an AA group and having them come and get you for detoxing.
Not a good idea if you want to show your bride you love her. Of course, if you're being forced to marry her for some reason, then I would suggest you just cancel the wedding and leave the alcohol in the cooler.

If your a fun drunk, and if you can handle alcohol with out throwing up all over your brides dress, then I say go for it. If your an *** when your drunk then no. I would definately ask the wife though. If she's ok with it then go for it. I know I plan to be drunk at my wedding.

I wouldn't recommend that. I friend of mine did that at his wedding. He got so sick he was throwing up in toilet at the hall he was at. Oh, don't forget the bad hang over the next day, do you really want that? The second question I would like to ask is; Why do you have to get drunk in the first place? Are you not in love with your wife to be? Please reevaluate your decision about getting drunk. Good Luck !

If I were you, i would drink but not get drunk. You don't want to do any silly things were every body will stop laughing. Wait until the wedding is over, then you and your partner can get as drunk as you can.

If you act really stupid and aggressive when your drunk it is a bad idea. I suggest that you don't get drunk because a lot of people have video cameras and digital cameras at weddings, if you know what I mean. Don't embarrass the bride, it is her day too!

My husband got too drunk on our wedding which was this past June. When we made it back to our place that night, he was so drunk that he passed out and we didn't consummate our marriage until the next night on our honeymoon. I would be careful, he regrets not remembering much from our wedding day.

I plan on doing so (I have terrible anxiety and the thought of standing in front of all those people makes me nauseous).
Just remember, there is a fine line between fun, happy drunk and stumbling, bumbling, look like an a$$ drunk.

Trust me, you do not make good jokes when you are drunk. You just THINK you are making good jokes and are being entertaining. Everyone is laughing because it eases their embarrassment for you.
