I have decided to sponsor a child from another country. I have chosen to do it through Compassion International. Is sponsoring a child a rewarding experience?

i think it would be rewarding because you know that you're making a difference to a child's life out there. i want to sponsor a child when i grow up and make my own money. i'm only 16 now.

why would you go out of your own community. there are so many people needing help right here where we live who are poor or just getting by. go to your local church or ask the department of children and families in your county about group homes for foster kids. back to school and Christmas are big times to donate but these homes also need stuff all year. for instance, some kids never get birthday presents or a cake. can you imagine that. help someone close to home, you know you can make a difference. (group homes must remain anonymous do to privacy issues for the kids) your kindness will be appreciated what ever you choose.

i actually did this once through my church ..i paid almost 400 dollars up front for this child and all i got was a picture and where the child lived... then i found out that things that was sent to this country was used first for the older children to get school supplies or where ever they thought the money was best used..so i quit doing that.. you could not send anything except by truck and i could not afford to finish with this either.. so i felt betrayed or somehow something was very misunderstood..

there's a brilliant company, i think of it continues to be in operation, call the Christian youngster's Fund, or something like that. they are the main respected interior the sphere and characteristic a popularity for actual getting a extra physically powerful proportion of the donations to the youngster than the different charity. in any different case i might say donate to the missions outreach of your interior of reach church. in case you do not have a church touch Baptist Missions.

It depends if your money actually makes it to a real child.
See if your money could help any children in your own community.
