Last thing I heard he had been found to have elevated testosterone levels. Have there been any further developments?

The originally reported test showing high testosterone is based on an analysis of the testosterone/epitestosterone weight ratio in urine. If the ratio is too high (i.e., if there is too much testosterone compared to epitestosterone), the assumption is is that the cyclist has treated himself with testosterone. Floyd's urine tested positive.

The test results show only that the testosterone to epitestosterone ratio is unusual--it does not show that he took testosterone.

But now, someone connected with the UCI (International Cycllists Union) told the New York Times that the French lab performed a carbon isotope ratio test on the first of Landis’s two urine samples provided after Stage 17 of the Tour de France. They did so after Landis’s ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone was found to be more than twice the allowed limit. The results, according to this person: Some of the testosterone in the urine was not produced by Floyd's own body.

Also, earlier today, Landis finally got around to requesting that the lab proceed with a test of his "B" sample--just after French cycling authorities decided that they weren't going to wait for the request any longer and would move forward with the test themselves.

The only thing that Floyd has done wrong is to be an American and win the Tour. The Frenchies just can't stand it, so they came up with this scandal to ruin his reputation. Even after he is able to prove his innocence, the stain will be there.

For now, there is a second sample that is being tested. If it comes up clean, he is cleared.

Second sample being tested supposedly. I'm an old cynic, however, and take the view that most world class cyclists and athletes are helped by drugs. Those that don't get caught just have the better medical people helping them. Means you shouldn't take either sport too seriously though.

Not that I've heard, but something's a bit wrong when he wins a stage by nearly 6 minutes the day after he struggled badly!!

They are waiting on a backup test which probably will be the same results. I assume he'll be innocent

after his perfomance in the mountains can anyone believe he is innocent. to lose by so much one day, and win by the same margin the next, sounds very iffy to me
