This is becoming more and more untrue - kitkit and several other candy bars have had limited runs with othe flavors - coffee, for instance. Hershey's recently started a dark chocolate line with dried fruit and nuts - cranberries/blueberries/cherries.
And lots of European candy makers have fun and crazy flavors. They cost a bit more than your average hershey's bar, but are well worth the cost.
Vosges makes everything from sesame-wasabi chocolate to chili-chocolate to cinnamon-macademia.
Ritter has several different kinds, including my favorite - marzipan filled chocolate.
Check out your local organic market or health food co-op, they usually have large selections of interesting candy bars.
My thoughts on the mint/orange issue - some things just go better with chocolate! Orange or mint with chocolate have been around for ages, because they work and are easily appreciated by large numbers of people. Don't forget, candy is a business like everything else. The have to think of thier market. And the market like mint and orange.

Since I do no longer eat chocolate (or anything else that contains sugar), the strange production policies of British sweet makers are now irrelevant for me.
But in the past I have noticed myself that there are no great ideas floating around in the chocolate market. Actually, if you like REAL chocolate, there is absolutely nothing worth eating made in the UK. Belgium and Switzerland are the countries that produce real and most excellent chocolates.

We have an awesome chocolate shop in Chichester called Montezuma's.
It's all hand made and has some great flavours.
I've had Mango, banana, Nutmeg, Chilli. The list goes on.
I think they've got a website.

There are raspberry and other flavors also. There's probably a limit to what flavors don't taint the chocolate, though, through reactions on a chemical level or whatever. Sometimes it Just Doesn't Work. *l* You ever made a recipe that you thought sounded great and it was just miserable?

i've had a cherry blossom kitkat. It is nasty to say the least.
At the same time, I also had a lemon cheesecake kitkat. That was worth the money.
