I have the same problem, i have very thick hair, and it takes a while to straighten
But, once i went to my friends house (her mom is a hair dresser) and she had this really cool straightner, and it took like 3 mintues and my hair was like 1/2 a centimeter thin!!!!
So, my suggestion would be to get a better straightner so it will be faster to do.
((I will edit this once I get the name of the straightner my friend had))

My hair is very thick too. I also straighten it. I go to my stylist and she texturizes it. Basically, it's a way to thin it some. You wouldn't believe how much it helps. Some stylists use thinning scissors-others use a razor. I prefer the razor. Don't worry you hair won't look like it's been thinned out at all, but you will be able to tell the difference when you are styling your hair.

I have the same problem--thick hair, takes an awful long time to straighten. Best I can tell you is hang in there! I don't know of any other ways to fix the dreaded Thick Hair Syndrome. ;)

You can go to a salon and get a "relaxer." It is the opposite of a perm.
I always blow dry my hair after I get out of the shower while pulling it tight with a brush... that helps to straighten it a little, then use a ceramic straightener. My hair takes about an hour over-all to fix.
good luck!

Theres nothing you could really to about the thickness or your hair, but you should get it permenantly straightened so you dont always have to straighten it and it will be much straighter and easier to take care of.

if your hair is naturally curly than u should try to make the curls better, like not frizzy or poofy.to do that, use sunsilk De-frizz or no poof shampoo, conditioner, and 24/7 cream. also to get rid of the poof, drench your hair with ice cold water for like five min. curly hair is just as beautiful as straight. about the straight hair thing, u can get shorter hair to make it go faster. u don't have to wash your hair every day, like every 2-3 days and when u shower use a shower cap or put your hair up in a bun.

blow dry it first the use a flat iron. They have this really good flat iron at Bed Bath and Beyond, it is called Maxi Glide I use it myself and it straightens your hair really fast.

It all depends on what type of flat iron you have. Does it get really hot? If not you need to get a flat iron that get's really hot, that helps me.

You could go to a beautician and have them thin it out for you.
