I think that question, more than any other, hits on the reality of islam far more than they like.
Don't be surprised if they gang up and have it removed.
It's not racist, it's not hateful it simply asks muslims to explain the truth of thier religion.
If they're afraid of the question, it will be removed. If not they'll answer.
Personally I don't think any of them have the guts to answer honestly...

That is an over simplification to suggest that all Muslims tolerate and support fanatic extremists.

I don't do either. Why do YOU tolerate and support fanatic extremists within Islam?

I don't support extremists.
One thing they and non-Muslims have in common: They both misinterpret the Qur'an to make it seem like we Muslims belong to a religion that encourages violence against the innocent.
I don't tolerate them either. That's why, when people (both non-Muslims and Muslim extremists) misquote the Qur'an, I correct them. This, in itself, is a form of Jihad.
Yoda Green, I beg to differ. We Muslims might be a lot of things, but we're not cowards. I think you're trying to goad us into saying something unseemly.

When people and nations live in darkness, they lose sense of direction. In an information age, knowledge–driven global culture of reason, ignorance is no longer a requisite to learn from the living history. The previous Empires knew their geography and limits, but the newly articulated American Empire in its infancy, is challenging to the limits of the Laws of God and appears obsessed with “fear” of being replaced by the new emerging nations of Asia and South America. Bush invoked the “War on Islam”, as a dictum of power, not reason and wisdom, to camouflage the prospective future with acts of barbarity and to dispel the notion of accountability in global affairs. Historically, people and nations pursuing this path of behavior have ended up in self-defeat and self-destruction.
The 9/11 attacks and religious doctrines have no common ground. Hourly paid intellectuals turned guardian of approved truth, allege that Islam breeds terrorism. The Western mass media complements the scientifically discovered notion to poison the public perceptions and source of judgments against the Arabs and Muslims. The Neo-Conservatives helped to rob the humanity of its human heritage. The perception of ‘radical Islam’ was invented and enhanced by the ‘fear’ of terrorism as a precursor to attack Muslims

Because they have to. It's not like they can go against all the extremists. People do it in America as well. Every religion has it's extremists. No one ever does anything about it because what can they really do?

WELL , yodagreen i think that i have the GUTS TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION!......or will you say that i'm a non-muslim 'cause i did that?!................if some muslims are cowards then not all muslims are............oh i assume that you are trying to stick this name(coward)to the muslims next toTERRORISTS..!
I'm a muslim and i'm totally against every extremist muslim who say hate and kill all the non-muslims in the name of God just 'cause they are non-muslims!
Al-Qaeda surely is a terrorist organization for killing innocent civilians....i'll tell you the truth if al-qaeda was only targeting the us army troops in its war then i wouldn't oppose it 'cause in that case they would be defending their land.......you will rarely find a true muslim who supports them...infact a true muslim would never support them.....at the times of the true Islam state(at the time of Muhammad(pbuh))christians and jews were living peacfully in the land of Islam if they weren't of any harm and oppose and help in destroying the islam nation!......they would worship whatever they want to worship and do what they want to do just but just didn't break the rules and legislation of the Islamic nation...
But if you mean to talk about the hizbullah and israel issue i'll honestly tell you that i'm totally with hizbullah in this war ,after what i've seen from israli troops killing innocent people all over palestine and lebanon...........can't you american non-muslims just say for an instance that israel is the terrorist organization and hizbullah is defending its land(lebanon)....why aren't you saying that ...........are you that afraid of jews?!
i'm not telling you to hate every jew in the world 'cause he is a jew but i'm telling you to express yourselves by saying that israel is terrorist and what its doing is wrong!
or are you that HATEFUL to muslims.......if a muslim country is being attacked then thats okay but if ISRAEL is attacked then ....wooh...wooh....THATS SOMETHING ELSE??!!!!

I agree with Phil.
I would also like to add:
When people are subjected to fascist regimes and abject poverty, the pendulum of politics will swing just as far in the opposite direction.

Have you ever tried to talk with an extremist? It doesn't work.
Now, have any of you tried to talk with a violent extremist? Did you survive?
