I work at a vet, and we usually PTS, then put the dog in a freezer. Once every one or two weeks, we have a nearby pet cemetary come and pick them up. They then burn the animals, it's just like human cremation. At our vet, we offer the option of communal cremation (where your pet is cremated with a bunch of different people's pets) or private cremation (where it is just your pet and you can get the ashes back if you really want them).

Just like humans except you can get them in different ways. A private one that is only your dog and costs the most. A partial one that has a few dogs and you get some of the ashes. A group one where you don't get back any ashes and you have to take their word on it that the cremated the whole heap and hope they didn't just take them to the dump.

Cremations are taken place in an incinerator that is gas powered. The heat is so intense that everything is consumed and all that is left is the calcinated skeleton. This is tapped gently with a metal rod and collapses into powder. This, basically is what 'ashes' are composed of. They are they placed in a container and presented to you. The same process takes place for human cremations.

In the vet's they have an incinerator out the back specifically for the purpose - it's much the same as human cremations, really.

Depends on where you go, but it's usually a lot like human cremation except without the wooden box.

They are probably put in a furnace and burned to ashes... Since that's what cremation means.

do you really want to know this? you could end up upset about it. they were after all your pets!
i wouldn't want to know (if i didn't know already) that would be like someone telling me how they embalmed a family member or cremated my grandmother!
ugh...makes me sad just thinking about it.

Please call your vet, he will take care of everything per your requests, you don't need any more details than that.
