Don't play the cliche songs... like the macarena and stupid stuff like that. Pick songs that mean something to you. Even though everyone expects to do some "line dancing" at weddings, try to avoid it. I think it is way over done and cheesy.

The chicken dance. The chacha slide. Achy Breaky Heart. A Moment Like This. Any sport team fight song. Anything off Jock Jams.

Wouldn't it be easier to make a list of songs you DO want played, instead? Makes more sense to me. Give him a list of the only songs you want played (Yes, it will have to be a long list, but thinking of things you like, is easier than ones you don't like. There are plenty of sites that give good songs to play at your reception).

You should focus on what you want played. That way, your DJ will focus on what you want... instead of trying to focus on what you don't want.
On the Do Not Play List, just put genres of music that you don't want to hear... Most wedding DJs will have enough sense as to what would be inappropriate to play at a wedding.
