The taste is usally pretty good, but many of the restaurants belonging to this chain, that I have gone to, have horrible staffing. Although I must say that I have gotten sick the last 2 times I have gone to the Olive Garden, sick to the point that I was vomitting in the parking lot and my wife returned inside to ask for some aid and was told to leave a name and number, and nothing else occured. After this occasion I have decided that eating at the Olive Garden is a less than pleasureable experience. If you want my advice, look in the local phonebook under italian restaurants and pick a fairly local business they and go there for a quick lunch in order to place your personal opinion on it. You will find the atmosphere of local establishments usually much better, and the price will not put such a large hole in your pocket as Olive Garden will.

Olive Garden is a big national chain restaurant. Its a great family atmosphere.
I'd give the food a rating of 7-8 out of 10, depending on what you order, and service is an 8 or 9. Its a good place, especially for families!
The prices are pretty good too!

I have not eaten at Olive Garden for maybe 12 years now. I know a lot of people like it, but I found the food to be pretty bellow average if you are used to eating good Italian food. I liked the salad and breadsticks, but that's about it.
Also, I like my food with a little extra garlic and when I asked the waiter to bring me some extra fresh garlic I was told they only had powder garlic. I find that really unacceptable for an Italian restaurant.

It's not that great, it's an American, capitalistic botchery of Italian food. Then again, if you've never had real Italian cooking, the Olive Garden is a pretty good bet. It's like eating in the home of a delightful Italian-American stereotype!

It's alright, breadsticks are decent. I mean if you just wanted italian food with no fuss it's the place although to people who really enjoy and seek Italian food it wouldn't be the place. Because to them they would view the Olive Garden as Taco Bell is to mexican food.

Yep-we've been several times. The food is moderately priced, mostly authentic, and the portions are large. They also have unlimited salad and breadsticks...they are great too.
My fav is the eggplant parmigiano (sp?) but I've eaten several different things and they were all delicious.
It's a worth try...but priced higher than a smaller, family owned business.
