my passport expires in 7 yrs some of the pages are water demaged ,however they are readable ,can i get a new passport issued, if i don't mind paying for a new one , how will my visa stamp for the country that I"m in and issed it be tranfered to a new one . Any news on when the e passport will be issued, last can it be issued by the American consulate or i need to go to the US embassy

You can get a new passport whenever you're willing to pay for it. The visas in your old passport will still be valid, as long as you carry it along with the new one.
The E-passport is coming, coming, coming ... but we're not certain when yet.
US passports can be applied for in every embassy and most consulates. They are issued in the US and sent back to the overseas post for distribution, usually in less than a week.

First, I heard the new E-passports will be available in Dec.'06; also believe you'll have up to 1 year to turn in your soon to be obsolete current passport and get a free or minimal fee new/current passport; after that, all passports will be required at a rate to be determined (probably 70-75$ for a 10yr passport); all visas will most likely need to be reapplied for which you can't do without a new passport...so....exchange it now for free and get new visas asap; make copies of all your passport pages before turning it in!
