my friend and i were discussing this...
and it's going to be my senior year so i want to be clever and creative with how i ask someone...
any ideas?

I think some sort of a scavenger/treasure hunt would be fun. Leave her notes with a clue (each clue could be little details from your friendship, etc but don't have to be expensive) that lead her to each destination where you'll be at the final location with flowers and ask her if she'll go with you. That's if she's truly special.
It all depends on the amount of money you want to spend...you could take her to the beach and draw the question in the sand :-)

Pick the girl you want to take to prom in August or September and take her on five or more other dates first. If she likes you and returns your kisses, then on one of the dates show up at her front door in a great suit with a dozen roses and ask her to the prom with her family watching.

I'd want a guy to send me a boquet of red roses and a note that says "will you go to prom with me?" Or maybe you could take her to a sporting event and write it out on the big TV (teleprompter)

make her feel great about herself. tell her that for a while she has drawn your attention and that she is a very beautifull woman and then conversate with her and while in that process ask her if she will go to the prom with you

I saw on a tv show where seniors would ask their dates and make it extravagant like a marriage proposal, with roses, candles, music, etc..
..I think that is ridiculous....

just go up to her and ask her to go with you to prom that is the BEST way to do it!!!
