I am rgm of a long john silvers and one of my vats will not, how do i put this, the fryer will not stay lit to heat it up. It works, because i have had this problem before and it's just kicked in and worked but it is not working now. I need to know if there is something i need to look at on it to get it working.

Hi. I am a LJS/A&W RGM and am quite familiar with fryers. Do you know which kind you have (mine are 24/24 G for instance). You should have an equipment manual somewhere for them and if not you should be able to obtain one from Yum). The first thing I would check is the switch located on the inside of the door on the top right. You should have a red handle that moves up and down to release oil. There is a small switch behind that handle and sometimes they lose connection and will not allow the vat to ignite. Is your power coming on and not your second button down? Try placing something behind the handle to test it-like a folded up 6 oz food tray. If this doesn't work, my assistant manager does all our maintenance and is somewhat of a vat expert and I'm sure he'd be happy to trouble shoot with you. Email and let me know if your interested at k_savage2002@yahoo.com. Good luck, I know what a pain it is to have a fryer down! KS in Kentucky

Is it a fryer IN the restaurant?

Determine the BRAND of the fryer, then try a Google search for that brand's website. Take it from there.
