I think it is natural because I just got out of a 3 year relationship and I have started dating again and the first few times I was with this new guy I thought about my ex ALOT!!! but over time I got over it and I still think about him all the time but not as a realtionship, we are friends and thats it. We were so in love and I dont really know what happened, everything just went bad and we could not handle it anymore so we both decided it was for the best to break it off. And i think you will always have feelings for your first. ALWAYS!!!! Dont worry the feeling will pass, but until it does just go out and have fun, dont sit around and dwell on it!!! You do have only one life to live so live it!!! To the fullest!!!
Good Luck

Those feelings for your first true love will never fully go away. Trust me, I've been happily married to my husband for 8 years and still think about my first love.

I think it has something to do with all of the first time intense feelings that our bodies and our minds go through. How can a person ever fully put those aside?

But, chemically speaking, our brains experience an overload of epinephrine and dopamine- the feel good chemicals. Everything we do in life revolves around the euphoric feeling caused by these chemicals- even falling in love.

The same thing happened to me. I had thoughts and memories for 3 years until I would see my first love again. Give it some time and maybe just say hi to her again. You may just remember the way you felt back then and realize that it was not meant to be. Some things change, especially people. From there you can move on.

I am 32 years old and my first love was when I was 17. I still think of him on occasion. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband more that life it's self. It will get easier. Not right at first, I still thought of him during my first marriage. With your first love you share so many ""firsts"" that it's hard to forget them. Cherish the memories hun, don't be haunted by them. Just give it time, lots of time. You will feel as though you are loosing your mind at times, it's ok let go, you'll regain your composure again. I feel for you hun, it is difficult to move on, but you can do it!
Good Luck!

It is so hard because the person who was your first love knew all of you . I mean They knew the ins and outs about you. The person just lights you up like there is no cares in the world. I say this because to this day I can not get over my first love.
The other people that you end up dating just can not compare I know.

I think it happens when it is a really love, I fell in love when I was 13 and some times I still remember that person. even that I'm merry happily and have two beautiful kids. I'll never forget my first love.

Well, the first taste of love is the best. Trust me I know. It feels so good and your so happy, but when its gone its like you've lost your heart.

Your not supposed to forget that because regradless of who you meet you would want them to have some qualities that your first love had.

One day you'll get over that person enough to open your heart to love again. But hold on to that feeling so you'll never forget that wonderful feeling.

I think that everyone will find that one person in their lifetime that they just love. When they walk in you can not breath and you are overjoyed when you hear their name. Sometimes that person may not be right for you but you are human and can not change the way you feel. With enough time things will become easier and you may not ever feel THAT way again you will be able to find someone who is better for you that you are able to grow with.

you have gotten over her yet....maybe you should contact her and just talk to her...not necessarily to get back together, but for closure...you can always remember your first love, but its the love of your lifetime you should be concerned with. You don't want to scare her away because of your drifting thoughts back to the past. Cheer up, the right gal will come along.
