He was caught drinking and driving this past weekend which kills many people every year.

Are christians better able to know the difference between right and wrong?

What do I know, I'm just an atheist who doesn't drink and drive.

Essentially, most people are hypocrites. That applies to you and me. It's just that we atheists are more willing to admit our faults because we recognise that possibility. For other more religious... followers (we all know which), it may be a little harder, because their religions are so absolute.

Well, he's a catholic and some catholics are not ageist drinking, which it doesn't make it right though. I had a friend that used to be a catholic and she was a minor, she was asked to go and get beer out of the fridge for the "elders". I thought that was crazy! But some of them think they can do anything they want to, through the week, but they'll be able to go and "confess" to the priest. Confession is good, but repentance is what makes the difference. Also you should pray to God and ask him to forgive you instead of a priest. God is the one that can forgive, a priest is only a human being!

He is a Catholic (which is Christian). He's a human being. He drove drunk. He will pay the price. He has publicly apologized and will probably be on an "apology tour" for a while.

What about forgiveness? The judge will set punishment, not you.

Alcoholics are found in all races, religions, political affiliations, rich, poor, etc. Don't label people.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

Knowing the difference between right and wrong doesn't guarantee that you will always choose right. You may want to familiarize yourself with actual Christian beliefs, instead of your fantasy land versions. Christianity teaches that all people are fallible, imperfect and corruptible accept one, Jesus Christ. The 'all people' part would include Mel Gibson, and you as well.

Not all Humans are Christians but All Christians are human, therefore they make mistakes. Humans sin, that's why we need Jesus. The sin in our lives causes separation from God, the only way for us to fellowship with God is through a relationship with Christ.

Sorry Mr. Gibson is not perfect, neither am I.

God Bless you.

Perhaps you don't drink and drive- but what are you sins? Are they of omission, or commission?

Do atheists believe that we Christians are supposed to be perfect? Do you really think that is possible- for a human being to be perfect?

combined with the anti-semetic rant and the threat to have sex with a female cop, I'd say Mel Gibson is the perfect poster boy for the religious right.

We have all back slid at one point or another. What worries me the most is the fact that he allegedly spewed out some majorly Anti-Semitic statement while being arrested. I firmly believe that you never say what you don't believe. No matter how drunk. No matter how much you know (when sober) that it's wrong.

I heard about Mel Gibson and not once did it cross my mind to mock his faith.

You must be a really negative person to make that connection.

Did you hear about Charles Manson. Doesn't that prove all anit-christians and non-believers are murderers and cult leaders?
