I don't mean this to sound rude. and if it does, I apologize in advance. But, seriously, why do you feel the need to tell everyone else they are wrong? If you're right.. you wouldn't need to convince me of it.. I would already know. And the whole, trying to save other's souls thing, I get... but if you're only trying to do something that is for the good of the other person involved, why do you get upset when they debate the issue with you?

And, really, what's up with the guys passing out stuff in downtown? Do they think that works? Are they trying to buy their way into heaven?

And I understand that Christianity 'works' for you.. why can't you understand that it doesn't for me?

No. I am not an atheist... I believe that all religion and atheism is a guess.. I believe in the possibilities of all things, just not the probability.

I was neither rude nor arrogant. I did not say Christians are dillusional or anything like it... why are you so offended?

I was raised in a Christian home... went to church most of the week, actually and found it to be false as I grew older. I understand the religion, I understand the faith. I'm not judging anyone.. just curious.

**Some** Christians feel that they aren't fulfilling their faith unless they minister to every person they meet. We are not fanatics. But if you found the answer to all of life's problems and a peace that most people never get to experience, wouldn't you want to talk about it? The Bible doesn't tell us to threaten people who don't believe, but it does tell us to spread the Good News and the Gospel of Christ. The Christians in your life are just trying to look out for you.

No offense is taken. The Word of God says that this would happen towards the end of time. We, because we love our brothers and sisters, tell them the truth. We are to go out into the highways and byways and compel others to come to Jesus. It is not that we are trying to convey to others that 'they are wrong' per se. Others feel they are wrong when they are faced with the truth. So it is not that we are convicting others of their failures, their own spirit is when they are faced by the truth. Just like you said that if you were wrong you'd know that already. Well what intelligent person makes a statement about something they already know to be wrong. From the day we are born to the day we die, we should never say we know it all. It is so true that you can teach an old dog new tricks. If you have encountered someone who 'got upset' when they debated the issue with you, then I am sure they just didn't want you to continue to live in darkness. Passing out "stuff" downtown does work. There are people out there that are not as bull headed and are wanting to know the truth. No one can buy their way to Heaven. There is not enough money in the world to get that accomplished. Yes Christianity does work for me and before the day of judgment, I pray it works for you to. May God Bless

Well to start out with your first question. If I your hair was on fire and you didn't notice it yet and I said your hair was on fire (now remember you didn't know it yet because you haven't started to feel it) does that mean I am wrong? of course not. Or if I you are swimming in shark infested waters (but you cannot see them) and I am flying overhead in a helicopter If I shout out there are sharks and drop a ladder would I be wrong? Later IF you climb the ladder and look down you will understand. Before you decide to climb the ladder it might take some convincing I might even decide at some point to yell at you and call you names just out of frustration (because it would be a lot of paperwork for me later if I didn't bring you back in one piece) Well these scenarios are how Christians see the lost. You are not fully cognizant of the whole "big" picture. you may think you are but you are not.

The guy on the street corner is not buying his way into heaven he has just found yet another way to attempt to spread the word. Advertising works so why not use it to get Gods message out.

Your last statement is the hardest to deal with. Again pardon me if I go to similies again. If I was a plumber and I fixed pipes EVERY day for 30 years and I used a Pipe wrench to Tighten pipes. You are my sister and you call me up and say I need to tighten a pipe. I say use a Pipe Wrench and she says I cant use a pipe wrench... It doesn't "work" for me. I want to use a hammer. WELL can you imagine that I might get a little frusterated at her?

It's true that some Christians are more defensive than necessary, and I'm sorry you've had to experience that. I try to spread the word as kindly as possible, while still getting my point across. Christianity doesn't 'work' for us, but let me explain what I mean. We don't look through different religions until we find one we think we can live with. If you plan to waste your life doing that, you might as well be agnostic. (Please, nobody take that offensively.) I'm a Christian because I believe in my heart that God exists and that Jesus died so that I might be with Him in Heaven when I die.

Just thought I'd mention this, thank you for being so polite in your question. People of other religions ask this and talk like Christians are a bunch of idiots that should be treated like dogs. Thanks for asking your questions while still respecting what we believe!

Thank you for putting this thinking on the Q&A!
""involved, why do you get upset when they debate the issue with you?""

One person asks a Q. Sameone Answers.
I agree - this SHOULD NOT become a DEBATE.
This SHOULD remain a Q & A.
People who want to DEBATE issues should be on a CHAT.
~~~~~~~~
""passing out stuff in downtown? Do they think that works?""
I NEVER do street evangelizm - but SORRY TO SAY-- it does work. Many people get suckered in to CULTS that way.
""Are they trying to buy their way into heaven?"" That is, near enough, EXACTLY why the Cult gang are out on the street.
Thanks for the understanding!
((Praying for you --BUT ONLY IF YOU REQUEST IT!))
Exactly right. I choose not to be Catholic anymore and my family says I'm wrong. You know the truth, and you are saying what I have been saying all these years. My mother will NOT stop sending me mass cards that cost money so these Christian monks can pray for my soul and guide me back to the church. These Christians say not to judge but isn't that exactly what they are doing to us? Why is it right for a Christian to point their fingers at us being wrong, that is called hypocrisy and that is what the church does. I saw things at Catholic school you would not believe, but yet their way is the right way or you burn in hell. There are other Gods out there to believe in and to the people who answered with I'll pray for you can go burn in hell.
i guess many christians might be overeager to share the love and grace of God
in any event you are right, christianity is not a hammer to hit somebody over the head to convert, but a gentle loving redeeming spritual path leading to God's light
if you don't like it, well, I 'm sad and hope you will open your heart and soul to listen for a while and then may be think again...
God is patient and always has time for you, no rus -
but also no unnecessary delays
God loves you and wants you to share the love and grace
I hope and pray you will be happy with your spiritual choice and have a chance to read the bible a bit and may be go to a good church and form your own opinion
God Bless you
I happen to be a Christian & I don't push Christianity
on anyone. It's up to the person if they want to believe it or not, & that's just it.
If people have a question about it or the bible I will
give them my answer & leave it @ that .
I feel sorry for them, that they choose not to believe
& I pray for them, I think that's all I can do
Its okay to have questions about Christianity, because as humans we naturally question things. So we don't get angry when people ask questions, only when they act ignorant and stubborn and refuse to listen to us.
And you say that Christianity doesn't 'work' for you... it wasn't made for fun to do if you feel like it, its there because its the real thing. I'm afraid to say that if it "doesn't work for you" then you will not be going to heaven.
