I say that I am not comfortable with the thought of considering it, yet my husband says I should be more uncomfortable NOT considering it.

Its written in the apocryphal book you mentioned above. That's about as close as you will ever get to evidence of anything Jesus did.

another popular story only this one by by Muslims is that Jesus did not die on the cross, Judas took his place.... but... it doesnt jive with the eyewitnesses and makes the death of Jesus meaningless

the gospel of Judas was known by the Nag Hamaridi afficionados for the last 30 years and not considered any big shakes no one cared. There is one known copy and written centuries after Jesus died, sorta like someone writting about how Benedict Arnold was really a swell guy and asking to set aside the eyewitness testimony of the day during the life of Benedict

bottom line, the Da Vinci code was making the rounds in theaters and it was an opportunite time to milk the gospel of Judas for whatever it would sell magazines for

The truth?

John the aposlte wrote that Judas did not at all like the Mary made a scene pouring expensive perfume on Jesus feet after all Jesus raised he brother Lazarus from the dead, and Judas would prefer to sell it... he was the treasuror and frankly Judas liked money...

when Jesus copied Mary, washing the apostles feet and tellin them to do the same a week later... well that pushed Judas over the edge... and he made the worst business deal in history but one foretold by Zecharias, God was valued at 30 pieces of siler the price of a female slave... an awesome prophesy...

truth is, the only way to serve God rightly is to let Jesus first serve you. The son of man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life an atonement for sin Mark 8:45
John the Baptist was right, he wasnt worther to unstrap Jesus sandles, but Jesus was willing to wash their feet anyway
and in order to serve God rightly Jesus must first serve you, so that you may glorify God leaning on His work on the cross, believeing for eternal life

Judas commit the sin of making a bad business decision. He valued Jesus too low and he missed out. Part of salvation involved rightly valueing, seeing savoring and treasuring Jesus rightly

When would Judas have time to write these things? Especially the last day, everything was happening so fast, they wanted Jesus dead before the Sabath, they had to act fast.

So, did Judas say, "Sure Jesus, I'll take your place on the cross, just let me write this stuff down first" ??

Wake up...

Judas was TOLD by Jesus that he was going to betray Him. He didn't call Judas by name, but He said the one to betray me is in this room.(The last supper). He also told Peter, You wll deny Me three times before the cock crows. Jesus never asked Judas to betray Him. Read the Bible before you start trying to pick it apart.
