Yes he did. The public never saw the true story.

If he would have done the same thing in Texas, he would have been killed, and no camera's would have been filming him.

Most people don't know that Rodney King was arrested 1 year later, and attempted to run a police officer over, he was buying crack cocaine at the time.

The video that people saw was a small piece of a long video. Here was a man that did not respond to three taser blasts. He was very combative, and very high on PCP.PCP is BAD stuff. When the suspect do not respond to one level of force, the officers were obligated to take the next step up the "force continuum" ladder. LAPD is one of the best trained Depts in the nation,Rule # 1 in law enforcement...Go home after your shift. This drug crazed person was going berserk and needed to be stopped. There are so many "What Ifs", what if the suspect got a hold of one of the officers weapons? etc etc .When you view the whole tape you will hopefully realize that they used the amount of force that they felt necessary to subdue the suspect. The arrest wasn't pretty by any means but The SUSPECT was the one who chose to ingest enough PCP for three people and then fight w/ the Police.

OH my god YES. He was SO high on PCP that several TAZER hits wouldn't bring him down!!! The whole video was never viewed by the public, nor the entire case exposed for public consideration. King SHOULD have been shot DEAD. Not allowed to sue the city and police department. This is a prime example of how LOW we have fallen as a society; don't blame the criminal, blame the cops. Blame the victim. Shame. A total shame.

When does the law have the right to step over the law? Never, the people we PAY to uphold the law should uphold the law, not think that a badge means they are the law. It's officers like the one's who beat rodney king that RUIN THIS COUNTRY! No freedom in the country of the free.....pitiful

Hello, I don't give a rats a$$ how high he was and what he he did they should have not beat him like that especailly more than one officer. The person could be black, white green or yellow officers need some type of control in their lives.

He wouldn't have been rewarded any money if the officers were not found GUILTY!!

Just because you carry a gun and a club doesn't make you the enforcer.

It depends on which side you believe. The police claim he was resisting arrest. I've heard stories of people strung out on drugs having almost super strength. Placing ones self in the police shoes and dealing with a suspected person on drugs I myself would use any menas neccissary to subdue that person. Looking at it from the other side. If he wasn't resisting as he claims then YES they did use excessive force. I recall hearing that it wasn't long after that he was in trouble with the law again for drugs. I may be wrong on that but if he was. It makes me tend to side with the police.

you think a private citizen merits to be viscously overwhelmed via cops. no longer something you have suggested is of any effect - your opinion is invalid. Few human beings understand the opinions of psychos. Lemme wager, you're a Republican top? Take particular word all independents. this is the trendy GOP.
